Posted By: jamie
Without a doubt, the toughest (and most expensive)is the 1914 Baltimore Orioles Schedule. Lipman Pike "cards" don't exist.

Zeenuts are a popular set- competition is pretty heated for MOTTs but I don't know how rare they are.

Rare cards of Jewish players

Posted By: Zach Rice
Guy Zinn's 1914 Baltimore News is no doubt the toughest out of all of them. In no real order I say these are the next three toughest. Moxie Manuels T210 because of it being part of the final series and toughest series in the set, series 8. Barney Pelty's Sporting Life Cabinet, i'm sure others can chime in much more on this but usually finding one particular player who is not a hall of famer can be a great challenge. And finally, Ed Mensors 1913 Voskamps. A few in the set show much more than others (Ferry, O'Toole, Hyatt, Miller) but besides the few we see of them every once and a while the others are extremely difficult to find and have very few existing examples to be found.

Posted By: Gilbert Maines
I have been looking for Wheaties Series 15, individual serving size cards, measuring 2 5/8 by 3 7/8 inches, for quite some time, with little luck. Id say Greenburg's card from that set is pretty difficult. But Im not sure it stacks up with some of the rarities above.

Though I'm sure there are some tough cards from the 50's and 60's (particularly of Koufax and Greenberg), these will probably represent the real scarcities.

1.Moe Berg
1929 Portraits and Action R316 4 Moe Berg
1930 Chicago Evening American Pins 11 Moe Berg
1930 White Sox Team Issue 3 Moe Berg
1933 Goudey 158 Moe Berg
1933 Goudey Canadian V353 84 Moe Berg
1934-36 Batter-Up 149 Moe Berg
1936 National Chicle Fine Pen Premiums R313 6 Moe Berg
1937 BF104 Blanket 2 Moe Berg
1939 Play Ball 103 Moe Berg
1940 Play Ball 30 Moe Berg

2.Sammy Bohne
1916 Zeenuts 100 Samuel Bohne
1919 Zeenuts 15 Samuel Bohne
1920 Zeenuts 122 Samuel Bohne
1921 Neilson's V61 67 Sammy Bohne
1921-24 Exhibits 12 Sam Bohne
1922 E120 166 Sammy Bohne
1923 Maple Crispette V117 20 Sam Bohne

3.Andy Cohen
1928 W560 Playing Cards * H13 Andy Cohen D, S
1932 Minneapolis Millers Wheaties 4 Andy Cohen
1933 Goudey 52 Andy Cohen
1933 Goudey Canadian V353 52 Andy Cohen
1933 Minneapolis Millers Wheaties 3 Andy Cohen
1933 Worch Cigar Minors 15 Andy Cohen#{Fielding

4.Sid (Syd) Cohen
1928 Zeenuts 128 Sid Cohen
2003 Jewish Major Leaguers 54 Syd Cohen

5.Phil Cooney
1909-11 Obak T212 209 Phil Cooney
1909-11 Obak T212 383 Phil Cooney
2003 Jewish Major Leaguers 20 Phil Cooney

6.Ike Danning
1926 Zeenuts 45 Ike Danning
2003 Jewish Major Leaguers 41 Ike Danning

7.Milt Galatzer
1933 Mrs. Sherlock's Pins PB5-3 4 Milt Galatzer
1934 Diamond Match Co. Posted By: warshawlaw
Don't forget Sammy Bohne's Exhibit PC back card.

I'd say one of the toughest ones is the 1928 Exhibit PCL Jimmie Reese card. I've never seen one and know of only a couple of complete sets ever transacting. That would be the Holy Grail of Jewish player cards for me.

Posted By: leon
I forgot about Levy. I heard a story that he might not have been Jewish. It sure is a Jewish name though. Beckett used to have a slightly higher price on him for this reason..... since there might be a little more demand for a Jewish player. If anyone knows for sure I would like to know. It just happened that this is my type card for the set..

I think I might have heard a story about his parents being 1 goyem and 1 Jewish.....so if his mom was Jewish then he was....so the religion goes......I might need to do some research here.....

Posted By: Jim Clarke
If memory serves me correctly, there is a debate about this player being Jewish. Here is the description I got from the Mastro write up:
"Stephen Behel had a brief and less than spectacular career. In fact, his Major League experience consisted of nine games in 1884 with Milwaukee of the ill-fated Union Association and a half-season with the 1886 New York Metropolitans. Certainly, it was not his statistical accomplishments that make this card of Stephen Behel so desirable to collectors. Rather, it is the fact that this particular card of Behel is generally regarded as the first such item to feature a player of Jewish descent."

If he is jewish I would think anything with him on it would be very rare since he had limited playing time.. Here is an old score card from 1885
