PSA turn around time??

I normally deal with SGC, but for Christmas, my wife got my a subscription to PSA. Six free grades with a 7 day turn around (Business days)

They arrived there on 20 January:

https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfi...99938108206744

They were entered into their system 26 January. Still waiting a return shipment.

Order #20891291 / Submission #5550507

Total Items: 6
Date Received: 1/26/2015
Date Shipped: N/A

Order Status: Your order is still being processed.

Is this the norm? Anyone had these issues or is it just me?

Just asking. I do like SGC, but this was a Christmas present from my beautiful , listening, wife.

EDIT: Package was marked with turn around time on the outside.

This is the absolute norm. Turn-around time is always slow; this being the biggest knock on PSA. It seems turn-around is measured in business days from the day after entered in their system; not day the package arrives. You're at about 5 business days from when it was entered at this point. I would expect to see the scores post last on the 7th day and then mailed the next day. If all goes according to plan.

Hi Jimmy. I have sent numerous submissions to PSA -at multiple different levels- and I have found that 99% of the time that my cards get graded within the specified time (give or take a day or two). I would guess that your grades will be posted Wednesday or Thursday. Just my optimistic two cents worth :)

I have sent in a few different submissions (two freebies of 15 each, two bulk of 60 and 110) and they all cleared at the end of their windows. I have already had to return five cards for mechanical errors, their term for incorrectly labeled cards. I will be sending back 6-8 of the most recent 110 submission because they continue to ignore the requests I've made on my submission form.

So when you get your cards back, make sure they're labeled accurately.

As to timing of the grades, they don't start the clock until they log them into the system, and it's business days, as mentioned earlier. The big takeaway I've learned from reading their boards is that if you send in a bulk with a 50 day deadline, it will either take all 50 days or they'll clear it in 5. Seems like those getting their cards back immediately is that they only send in a single issue or very commonly graded cards. Each of my orders had some cards that have never or rarely been graded, which probably pushed mine to the end of the 50 day window.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'll post when something changes.

Note that if you have some obscure cards in your submission where the Research department may need to look into it further, the submission typically takes longer.

My collectors club submission was entered 1/10, shipped 1/26. My December special has been sitting there since 12/22 and from what I hear it would not be unusual for it to take until April to get back to me.

Given the horror stories I've heard about delays I'd say if you need an item for the National and it fits into a collectors club special now's the time to send it in...

No, nothing obscure. 60 Maris, 69 Mantle, T206 Willis portrait and some 70's Topps. Thursday and still "being processed". Well see. Patiently waiting. I was just wondering if this was the norm.

Well, day 10 and it is still being processed.

I sent them a 30 collectors club special late Nov. they received it Dec 3, and put it in their system Dec 10---it has been almost 2 months---I know they say 50 working days, but come on---Terrible service and then you get the dissapointing results since they dont want to give high grades anymore. Oh well, not much you can do!!

xplainer 02-09-2015 04:49 PM

Don, that is quite a story there. Guess I need to shut up whinning. LOL!:D

I can attest that SGC turn around is pretty accurate. At least in my dealings.
Anyway, the wait continues.

Did you use the electronic submission form? Using the new electronic form has increased my turnaround time significantly with PSA.

No, I didn't. Manual on form submission. I'll do that next time. Thanks.

The online submission is faster

received on 1/28/2015, shipped 2/9/2015

xplainer 02-10-2015 05:04 PM

Grades posted online tonight. I guess they ship back tomorrow.
End of saga.

Are the grades you received close to what you expected? I hope so!

Well, Willis got a 1.5 and Maris got a 5. Happy with those.
Mickey was undergraded (to me) at a 3.

The other three were right on..except a 2014 Topps Chrome Sepia Refractor Alex Cobb I thought was a sure 10. Came back a 9. But I'm not a grader.

This is why I tend to lend toward vintage only. And T206 specifically. In two years, I won't own a card less than fourty years old. Selling off slowly.

hahahaha

PSA's Turnaround times are as quick as they want to send them back to you. The last shipment of photos they authenticated literally took 10 weeks on a 4 week turnaround.

Often for me, 'over-anticiapton is disappointment in progress'.... the more my eagerness builds, the more likely I'm terribly let down by the grades I waited for on pins and needles... when I lose track of it, I'm usually pleasantly surprised... but doesn't this go for everything in life :-)
