1889 N526 #7 Cigars What is the stock?
Hello, I need some help as I am not very well versed in 19th Century cards. The 1889 #7 Cigars are they a thick paper stock?
They are so darn crude printed that they seem like they could be easily faked with today's technology. Thanks Dan |
Dan, they are on thinner stock than cards of the era (N28, N172, etc.), but it is not paper thin. Kind of like the stock of other trade cards of the era. So yes, basically a thick paper stock as you mentioned.

ok great! thanks Kevin, I truly appreciate the confirmation.

ditto
as to the stock - never seemed there would a reason to fake them (over other type cards - they're not popular or weren't)) but it's been 15 years since I owned a couple/three - and as for your fear of replication easy to do so in cyberspace - not so easy in person as old stock like that not likely to be found and with all the paper you've handled would be an easy call. Of course impossible to make something foolproof as fools are so inventive.
