How to mail a signed baseball?

How do I package a baseball so the signature isn't harmed? A friend who sells on eBay says he wraps the ball in bubble wrap. I'm thinking placing the ball in a zip lock bag. I can also shrink wrap if that's better. Good packing and a solid mailing box is a given. Most balls are loose while some have their box. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks.

I have never sent one,but have gotten a lot in the mail. Most were wrapped in bubble wrap in a box or bubble mailer.I have also received multiple balls in baggies and packing peanuts in one box that seemed to do the job.

I think any of these suggestions are fine. I don't know how the shrink wrap works (do you have a special machine?) but that might give the most 'professional' appearance.

Anyway, I've received baseballs shipped to me in a whole variety of stupid manners but only once was anything damaged—the guy had sent it using just newspaper as packing material and the newsprint ink had rubbed off and lightly transferred all over the ball. It wasn't horrendous looking but noticeable enough, especially since it was a bright white OMLB versus something older. Luckily I was able to clean it off, but it was a pain and more difficult than I expected it would be.

I use a baggie, peanuts, and a 4x4 box. Never seem to have any problems.
