Manti Te'o Investigation

ok, so what is the truth behind this story???

iwantitiwinit 01-17-2013 06:06 PM

Choice 6. He could be unstable.

seablaster 01-17-2013 06:21 PM

I think you omitted the obvious choice:

This whole episode is moronic on an epic level and is getting more attention than the national championship game and the Heisman contest themselves.

Couldn't have happened at a better time for Lance Armstrong.
The last two weeks seem to have cost him a bucket of money.

Someone, somewhere, some time ago said this is confabulation....

I think Te'o defied Lance Armstrong and Armstrong said he'd get him back.

cyseymour 01-17-2013 10:24 PM

I think one thing it tells you is that America is fascinated by the absurd. Armstrong doped and lied about it, but a lot of athletes did. Plus, everyone already knew he was guilty. But the Te'o story defies explanation... it is strange. That's what makes it so interesting.

The story is certainly strangely intriguing but you need a 6th choice in the poll:

Who gives a hoot?

novakjr 01-18-2013 06:29 AM

I can't vote. I think it could be a combination of things. 1)The attention in regards to Heisman/whatever. 2)He may have not been involved from the start, but eventually caught on and just rolled with it. 3)the entire thing was used as a built in excuse in case of failure, which would in turn make him look better if he performed well.

Also, I'd like to note that I don't think it's all that co-incidental that this came out AFTER they got blown out by 'bama and Te'o looked awful in the game. He was clearly in over his head, and his draft stock probably plummeted. I've heard mention that he supposedly learned of the hoax in late dec. It just seems to obvious, that he could be playing off the confused/irritated/emotional distress caused by finding out he'd been tricked as an excuse for that poor performance, so that his draft stock doesn't fall.
