help from T210 collectors/interested parties

Ran across a large team photo in my deceased friend's collection...I think it is around the 1910 time frame. Two questions: Do you recognize any of these Roanoke VA players from the T210 set or other sets of the time?

Second question, realistically how much is it worth? It is a nice original with a mat from the photographer. If it is in the $50-100 range, I would probably give it to the local baseball HOF as I have done very well with the collection and a grant will probably not do that much one way or the other...but if it is worth a lot more it would probably not be responsible for me not to sell it. Would appreciate opinions

The only Roanoke Tigers in T206 are Ray Ryan and Shag Shaughnessy, if that helps. Jim Rivera might be able to help with the T210's.

If this photo was of the Roanoke Tigers of the VSL we should be able to pick out a key player from certain years like Bill Otey, Shag Shaughnessy, Buddy Ryan and James Lafitte.

Given the young age of everyone in the photo I would suspect this might be a Roanoke College team.

This photo is not of the Roanoke players pictured in the series 2 t210 set. I do not recognize any of the players in the photo and would say Tim is right-it is probably a college team.
If it were the Roanoke team from t210 I am sure Shag would be present and easily identified in the photo.

I had to be in the Roanoke/Salem area on business today so I printed out a copy of the photo in question and stopped by Roanoke College. I went to the library and was told I needed to speak to the college's archivist Linda Miller who's office was in the basement. Fortunately Ms. Miller was in her office and very receptive to helping me. When I showed her the photograph she said it was definitely a Roanoke College team but she didn't know which one. She took me into the archives room and we first looked through a large box of athletic team cabinet photos from the 1900-1920 time frame but didn't find any that matched. We then began going through year books on the shelf one at a time but didn't find the photo in any of them either. She explained that the college didn't issue a year book between 1900 and 1903 and that maybe the team was from one of those years. As she was telling me this she remembered that she had the 1904 yearbook on her desk doing other research. When we opened it to the baseball team it was the exact photo in the original post. Here is the information on the baseball team that was on the opposite yearbook page.

Ms. Miller also knew exactly where on campus the photo was taken. It was on the right side of the Bittle Memorial building. In the OP photo you can see ivy on the wall behind the players and ivy still grows under those windows today.

Nicely done. That is one of the cool parts about this hobby-the history and little stories that go along with the cards, photos and ephemera.
