Nice desk, is that pine?

Great room, I hope one day to have a room dedicated to only my hobby.

cobblove 01-12-2010 02:16 PM

what desk?

Taxman 01-12-2010 02:21 PM

Desk

Thanks guys, the desk is from Office Depot. It is press board finished with cherry veneer.

The desk question was a semi-joke (obscure Seinfeld reference!)

I really like the graded card displays...very nice.

chiprop 01-12-2010 02:37 PM

Very cool room. Time for a new TV!

RichR 01-12-2010 02:47 PM

Where did you say you lived? :D

Right...when you go vintage, go all the way, baby!

The usually reliable 1947 Dumont Chatham model...

brianp-beme 01-12-2010 03:33 PM

Good job!

Pretty nice...I especially like how you used the closet creatively as extra display space.

Is that a Karl Farbman? (another obscure Seinfeld reference)

No not the Farbman! - Brett

Nice Hobby Room !

Kirk - My favorite piece is that B'Ham/Yankee letter circa 56', best I recall. Nice frame job and a one of a kind letter !

Cool digs,

JJ

J.McMurry 01-12-2010 05:12 PM

cool room.

Whats the story on the black wall cases that display your graded cards?
They dont look like others I've seen, they dont appear to have the little ledges that hold up the cards. Did you make those?

milkit1 01-12-2010 05:20 PM

yeah i want to know about those cases as well :)

slidekellyslide 01-12-2010 05:22 PM

A nice touch with the hard to find Blue Snaggletooth Star Wars figure mixed in with your sports memorabilia. :D

GoldenAge50s 01-12-2010 05:28 PM

Beautiful job! Wish I was that organized!

Taxman 01-12-2010 05:31 PM

Cases

Got the cases at the local Hobby Lobby then used double sided tape from Lowes to attach the cards. Cases are 25 but HL has alor of 50% off sales.

I have one, enjoyed it. Then we got a new addition to the family...a bouncing 79 year old, my wife's mom. She lived there for 8 years. She passed a couple of years ago, but the kids took it over...Maybe someday...

My stuff is more or less confined to a closet in my work room. The pics obviously don't do my collection justice...hopefully one day I can have a room dedicted to the hobby complete with wall displays and the works....

I also threw in a pic of my fav cards out of the bunch...

All I got to say is..............

ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....nice collection too....;)

Nice room, Taxman. I'm an LSU fan so all the Bama stuff stands out to me. As much as I despise them I have to say that I was rooting for them in the National Championship... and rooting for Ingram for Heisman. He always seemed like a class act and after watching his speech I'm convinced of it. I just wish he'd go into the draft so we wouldn't have to play against him again next season.

Anthony S. 01-14-2010 07:15 PM

Is Nick Saban pictured in any of your 'Bama memorabilia? Because if he his, that piece of memorabilia will suddenly leave in a couple of years, and then hold a press conference during which it'll cry and say how wonderful your hobby room was.

I laughed...

Love the room! Especially the display of Mantle cards. I don't think I would ever leave that room if it was mine. Thanks for sharing.

Hello--I am new to this forum but thought I would try and post a picture of my refuge. I look forward to talking with people in the future about their collections as well.

Roll Tide! On a side note i like the card set up as well! Who signed the white football under the Bryant print?

nice room!! roll tide roll!!

tbob 01-17-2010 11:19 AM

Nice room, congrats.
Now if the Bama memorabilia were replaced with Arkansas Razorbacks stuff (Corlis Williamson jersey, signed national champs basketball, Cliff Lee signed baseball, Lance Alworth jersey, etc.) it would definitely be a 10 in my book. :D
