Massive Sports Collection Purchased- Updated with Pictures 5 March
Jeff (Ibuysportsephemera) and I formed a business partnership and bought collection of 10,000 programs from the late 1920s-1990s. It includes programs from College Football, NFL, MLB, ABA, NBA, NHL, PGA, and some Olypmics. It also has medial guides, press packets, press passes, cigar labels, tickets, jerseys, and football autographs. A large bulk of the collection is from the 1930s-1960s.
We've made it through about 10% and are still cataloguing and sorting what we have, but we have it set by decade. We will sell all of it so stay in touch with us with your want lists either by email or in this thread and you will get first consideration before it hits ebay. Thanks and let me know what you're looking for.... Congrats on the pick-up. Should be fun. Speaking from experience, and if you are adventurous, the last huge publication collection I picked up. I took a one way flight out to the area of the auction house, picked up a moving van locally and drove it back home to the East Coast. Probably saved a couple grand in shipping costs, and was the only viable way to pick up the collection and not spend more in shipping then I spent on the actual collection. Was hard work but worth it. |
I'd be interested in anything having to do with WWII service baseball.
Regards, Ken |

Update: Cataloging is continuing and we are keeping track of all responses, emails and private messages. Thanks again to everyone who has responded. We have found that the majority is vintage Football and Basketball (both college and pro from many many teams) from the 1930's through the 1970's with a strong concentration from the 1940's through the 1960's. There are some very obscure items with many many playoff programs. We will update with pictures when we get the chance.
Thanks, Scotty and Jeff |
Thought I would add some pictures of the different sports. This is just a small representation of the total collection.
Unfortunately, baseball was the least represented, however still some good items. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...416e924b84.jpg NCAA Basketball had many great championship programs https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...80b9c72809.jpg NBA has some incredible 40s and 50s: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d595e738b1.jpg Hockey had only a little more than baseball, but still some great items: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...41f18b0804.jpg NFL had an incredible mix defunct teams, AFL, and championship programs: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6cb5ac403d.jpg College had a solid mixture of 30s and 40s: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e6a48b4b5d.jpg And a closing shot of a mixture: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fab40ddb49.jpg |

Collectors,
Good evening from MVP Sports Auctions! We connected with each of you via email or through Net54 about a large acquisition of sports programs and memorabilia that spanned from the 1920s to 2000's. Each of you let us know a specific area of collecting that you are interested in and inquired if we have items that match. We've collected that information and began cataloguing the collection. We wanted to post an update here as well as send out a note to your emails in order to update you on the status of the collection and our current selling strategy moving forward. In order to identify a fair market value on many of these items, we are going to initially list them on eBay. We will try to use the collecting areas you've identified to help us decide what to list initially. We will send out a note each week to let you know what we listed. Our listing strategy is going to be to list it on eBay as an auction. If it does not sell the first time we will relist it. If it does not sell the second time, we will move it to the store format. Once it is in the store format, we will post it with a "Best Offer" option to gain a better understanding of market pricing. Currently, Jeff and I are using our own eBay accounts until we can effectively transition to a joint eBay business storefront. Jeff's ebay account is: http://www.ebay.com/sch/sportmags/m....p2046732.m1684 Highlights of his listings include - Various NCAA Championship Tickets/Press Passes spanning from 1945 to 1971 - Many BAA/NBL/ABA tickets, full and stub (Fort Wayne Zollner's, St Louis Bombers, NY Knickers, Chicago Stags, New York Nets, Minnesota Pipers) - 1947 NY Yankee's Season Pass - Many AFL tickets and Press Passes (Houston Oilers, Sand Diego Chargers, Dallas Texans, Denver Broncos) - 1940 Brooklyn Dodgers NFL Pass - 1950 NBA Basketball "Fines Report" on official NBA letterhead - 1939 University of Michigan Season Ticket and Football Forecast Report - 1929 University of Texas Football Schedule - 1947 Chicago Stags Basketball Media Guide - 1946 Sugar Bowl Ticket - 1949 New York Giants Football Season Press Pass Scotty's ebay account is: http://www.ebay.com/sch/smotan_02/m....p2046732.m1684 Highlights of these listings include: - 1952 NCAA Final Four Basketball Championship Program - Various regional NCAA Regional Championship Programs from 1951-1968 - 1969 NIT Program signed by Bobby Knight and Pat Summerall - 1942 NAIA Basketball tournament program - 1926 Ohio State vs Northwestern Basketball Program - 1948 East- West All Star Game Program signed by Arnie Ferrin - 1942 Sugar Bowl Program (Fordham vs Missouri) - 1944 Card-Pitt vs Bears NFL Program - 1939 Cleveland Rams vs Philadelphia Eagles Game Program - 1935 Nebraska vs Oregon State Football Program - 1942 Cleveland Rams vs NY Giants Preseason Game Program - 1940 Philadelphia Eagles vs Brooklyn Dodgers Football Program - 1925 University of Washington vs. California Football Program - 1937 USC vs Ohio State Football Program - Various 1952 Alabama Football Programs Please let us know if you have any questions and thank you for looking at the auctions.
