I think there was a bat that was thought to be one of the first bats - maybe 1840's or before - in one of the recent bigger auctions. Like this one, that one looked a lot like a stick with a little shape carved into it. It didn't go for anywhere near $2.2M.<br /><br />I wondered if that was because there is no such thing as the "first bat", and thought maybe the price difference was because somehow this can really be called the "first hockey stick" - or at least the first known hockey stick. Still, it seemed to me like an earliest bat would go for more than an earliest hockey stick if for no other reason than that baseball has a much bigger fan base.<br /><br />Anyone else remember the bat and what it went for compared to the hockey stick?<br /><br />Joann
