t206 Cobb real?

I don't collect these...normally 50's-70's baseball. Looks odd to me but could totally be just my ignorance on this set. Is this real? I know it is in a Beckett slab but that doesn't mean anything. If it is real, what would be a good offer price? Just came into local card shop.

It's real but not a nice 3. I would value it at about 4k-5k, retail....others might know more..

Agree with Leon, absolutely real but not a 3 in todays world. I am not super savvy with current sales but 3500-4700 seems reasonable depending on the day. Probably would sell better with a regrade even if it drops a grade.

Definitely authentic, not a miss by Beckett there. Gift grade. I wouldn't go over $3,300 or so; that's really a 1.5, maybe a 2. SGC 1.5's are going for right about $3,000. Probably one to leave for the slab buyers who don't look at the card.

I have a feeling the glare in the photo is washing out the appearance of the card (as we view it). I bet the card actually has real nice color. Perhaps not a 3 grade card, but there is a good possibility it is a real nice looking card with just some staining on borders and back.

The pricing on it would probably be in range of what others have mentioned.

It looks to me like the card once had a bunch of stuff stuck to it and it was soaked, leaving the staining/off-coloring

I don’t mind the 3 grade. The centering is strong, and the corners are decent. Yes, it has staining and there is a crease in the upper right corner, but if this is not about a 3 on a 110 year old card, what is a 3 and what is a 1? I mean, a 3 is not a high grade. I could understand if it was a 6, or even a 5 or 4 (with the crease), but seems nice enough to me for a 3; maybe a tad generous but at worst a 2.5

Looks good. Just curious, what looked odd to you?

This is what I was thinking, it's still a 2-2.5. It's so hard to judge a card in a BVG slab because they often photograph terribly because of the penny sleeve inside and the depth of the holder.

I like to buy BVG simply because many buyers shy away from the photos and the grader.

Beckett has a nice holder--buy it if the price is fair

Beckett has a nice holder--buy it if the price is fair and you want it--i think one of the best Looking T206 Cobb is the bat off version-go for it!--(a solid blue chip card)

Cobb

Tobacco stains and not bleached may be an accurate grade. But 2.5 sure and no more then 4k. If I were to purchase 3500 and is fair to mention as others have. Good luck

Well stated , and yes it's real and probably a "justified "BVG grade.

I am not a fan of this much staining.....a little is ok, but this one has a bit too much for me. To each their own though.
