A few cool baseball tickets to share...
 

Here are some of my favorite baseball tickets that are not related to no-hitters:

1) Nolan Ryan ML debut and 1st strikeout full, unused ticket. Very scarce, I know of only two of these full tickets in the hobby.

2) Nolan Ryan 1st win ticket stub. Another toughee, I only know of 4 of these existing

3) Nolan Ryan 383 K and Sandy Koufax 382 K ticket stubs. Nolan's ML record 383 K's in a season will likely never be broken. Sandy Koufax's NL and lefty single season record is also an amazing record in its own right!

4) Tom Cheney's ML record of 21 K's in a 15 inning game. Cheney is the only pitcher to ever strike out 21 in a ML game & this is the only ticket that I have ever seen to this historic game.

5) A full ticket to a 19 inning marathon game that featured HOF's Rapid Robert Feller pitching 9 innings and Satchel Paige pitching 10 innings in relief.
The game was played on July 1, 1952 at CLE. Cool game!

When you say "I know of only two of these" you're referring to the full, untorn ticket (as opposed to a stub), correct? Either way, it's still an awesome piece.

Correct! The full, unused ticket. A fair amount of the stubs to his debut game are out there. I suspect that I have seen at least 15 of these...

I really like that Tom Cheyney 21 strikeout game ticket! I hope another pops up someday LOL

For those of you that didn't get Randall's inside joke:
I own the Cheney 21 K ticket because of an unselfish trade that the two of us made several years ago that cemented what has become a great friendship. Thanks again, Randall for filling this hole in my collection. ;) :)

Last Night I pulled out some stuff out of storage and saw a box that had some scrapbooks from the late 30's early 40's. They were from a Red Sox fan living in NYC. I know this because all the ticket stubs are from Yankee game and almost all the box scores are Red Sox. Taking a suggestion from a board member I am trying to get some stubs from Home run games from 500 HR club members to go on my display. So I start reading and find an early Williams and a nice Foxx stub. Then I get to this page....Joe Dimaggio ties Willie Keeler for consecutive hit streak. Field box stub so has date!! Streak stubs are rare and I have never seen this one before my new favorite stub... and my old favorite an 1885 Providence stub from their last year in the National League.

Great tickets everybody. Here's one of my faves.

Just snagged this one. Greatest game ever pitched. Kerry Woods 5th start and he gets a complete game, 20 strikeout, 1 hit shutout. And does it against the Astros who would win 102 games! According to Bill James' pitching "Game Score" system it rates a 105 with none higher. The only hit he gave up was an infield hit. the highest possible game score would be a 114. That would be a 27strikeout complete Perfect Game.

Game Score is a metric devised by Bill James to determine the strength of a pitcher in any particular baseball game. To determine a starting pitcher's game score:

Start with 50 points.
Add one point for each out recorded, so three points for every complete inning pitched.
Add two points for each inning completed after the fourth.
Add one point for each strikeout.
Subtract two points for each hit allowed.
Subtract four points for each earned run allowed.
Subtract two points for each unearned run allowed.
Subtract one point for each walk.

Here is one of my favorites - Babe Ruth's three home runs in Game 4 of the 1928 Series. As a Cardinal collector, it's ironic to have a favorite item depicting a Yankee sweep, but I have plenty of tickets with better outcomes for the Redbirds. I collected cards as a kid but I caught the ticket collecting bug when I worked as a ticket taker at Busch Stadium in the 70's. One day I was working next to one of the old timers and things were a little slow - the Cardinals did not draw nearly as well then as they do now - and I mentioned collecting tickets. Astonishingly, the guy reaches into his wallet and gives me a stub from the '46 World Series. He said he always carried it around but thought I would appreciate it more. I still can't believe it.

I have at least one ticket from each Cardinal World Series and a stub from each St. Louis All Star game, but a full ticket from Stan the Man's final game is my personal favorite. Would love to find a stub from his first game.

Beautiful Ruth 3 HR World Series ticket! It's really odd that in Ruths career he hit 3 HRs in a game 4 times total. Twice it happened in the World Series and the last time was when he hit his last 3 HRs of his career.

RTK- if you have your stub from the game it is actually a record. Most strikeouts over two consecutive starts 33.

I do not really collect tickets, but I do pick up a few that I find interesting and at what I consider a good price.

Bob Hayes wins the 100m dash at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo. Still the only man to win an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl. (Michael Carter of the 49ers won a silver in shotput in 1984 and Super Bowl ring 5 month later)

The United States wins the gold medal in basketball at the 1968 Olympics. The team features 2015 Basketball Hall of Famers Spencer Haywood and Jo Jo White along with future star Charlie Scott.

Relative unknown Lindy Remigino of Hartford CT and Manhattan College wins the 100m dash at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. He barely made the U.S. team (by photofinish at the trials). He wins the finals in a photofinish in the closest 100m final in Olympic history. He wins by one inch. The final was so close that the 4th place finisher was only 14 inches behind.

Joan Benoit wins the inaugural women's Olympic marathon. A challenging ticket to find as it is the only athletics final that started that early. All others were in the afternoon.

Ticket to the memorial ceremony for the slain Israeli athletes and coaches at the 1972 Olympics. All athletic (track and field) events were cancelled that day. The 10 am admission ticket which would have been for preliminaries and heats was instead the admission ticket for the ceremony which was held in the Olympic Stadium.

These are George Brett's last game tickets .... one in Kansas City the
other in Texas. The Arlington ticket is also the last game in Arlington
Stadium and would be Nolan Ryan's last game in that Stadium.

Megalimey, what does your research show about dating Ladies Day "L" tickets? I have these tickets and thought they could be 1941, but do not know for sure. The L-4 ticket was taken from a scrapbook of 1941 (J) and 1942 (K) tickets. Written next to the ticket is "Russo v. Detroit". Russo pitched against Detroit on June 20, 1941 and won 14-4. It was a Friday and the fourth home Friday of the season. It was game 33 of DiMaggio streak and DiMaggio had 4 hits.

they are almost impossible to date by year unless there is some thing noted
which could be fabricated however your

1928 Game 3 Lou gehrig 2 HRs
 

i have a 1928 World Series Ticket Game 3 this is the game you see in the Movie where Gehrig hit two home runs

In the movie, Lou Gehrig hits two home runs and Babe Ruth hits one for "Little Billy" in the hospital. According to baseball-reference.com in the 1928 World Series Gehrig did not hit multiple home runs in any game that Ruth did homer. In game 3 against the St. Louis Cardinals Gehrig hit 2 home runs and Ruth none. In Game 4 Gehrig hit one and Ruth three. While the movie is not specific about the game being in the 1926 or 1928 World Series where both the Yanees and Cardinals met, there are two ways to tell it is 1928. One Gehrig did not homer in the '26 series. Two, the Yankees are celebrating a series victory later in the movie. The Yankees won the '28 series and lost in '26.

Thanks David, very helpful and great article. Now I know for sure on one of the tickets. I am now 100% sure on the L-4 ticket too since it came from the same scrapbook I got 15 years ago and was the game (June 20) right before this J ticket game 29. There was writing all over the scrapbook in the same hand, so hard to believe the "Russo v. Detroit" was fabricated, but I understand no way to prove. Since I have no intention of slabbing or selling, knowing is good enough for me. BTW - you should add your info about Ladies Day tickets to your PSA article.

I went through the pieces I pulled from the scrapbook I got these tickets from, and discovered this article/box score from this June 20, L-4 ticket, along with a cartoon image of Dimaggio depicting the streak.

Pretty cool to able to make a connection between some pieces I have had for a long time. I probably should have kept the scrapbook together years ago, but didn’t make the connection – you live and learn. I have been asking for years if there was any way to date some of these tickets and David’s article helped with the “J” ticket, and draw some connection to this “L” ticket.

I really like what he did, as you hopefully can see in the pix he has the ticket in a plastic holder, then that is placed into inserts on his page with it titled, then shows the season schedule with the game highlighted and also on the back the full box score from the game......just an idea for those who collect tickets and how to display them.

I collect Cleveland Indians items mostly. Ticket stubs or full in particular.
Here are a few I myself have collected over the years.
I am always searching for opening day ticket stubs, full unused tickets or other rare feats. So if you have any Indians ones I do have a list of what i am searching for.

I don't think it signifies anything specific. They are preprinted on the tickets. I could be wrong though.
That is why I joined this forum. Seems like a lot of educated people here on tickets and memrobilia.

With nearly zero 1960s basketball cards I pick up tickets if they have nice images. Won this in a shootout yesterday on eBay:

I bought this ticket back in July...was a little worried at the time because the seller on ebay did not have even a score of 10 when i purchased it.
But his story seemed legit and i talked to him on the phone a few times.
Finally got this back in the mail today from PSA and am beyond pleased!!!
