Was really nice to see a good crowd at the Coliseum tonight, and nice to see the A's win. It coincided with my 50th anniversary attending baseball games, as I was there in '68 to see the A's first home opener as my first pro baseball game. Probably only a few hundred that attended both, and few still that retained their original stub like I did

In '68, I was on the third deck, right field corner. Last night there were sections reserved for season ticket holders if you arrived early, so I sat on the first deck, between home & first. At first pitch, you could sit anywhere, and the A's encouraged fans to walk around and experience the entire park

What a great looking game...the A's really did it right. I heard their GM mention that 20-25% of those in attendance were at their first major league game. What a great way to grow the game.

The best thing about the 1968 Oakland A's....the 1969 Kansas City Royals;)

When ever I think of the early Oakland A's, I think of this wonderful photo from Sport magazine of their top prospects, along with a coach. All but one should be easy to identify ...
