Why not a higher grade with a qualifier for tape on back?

The qualifier "TP" would seem a little weird.

It's also got a rip where someone tried to peel the tape off on the right side. So, not just stuck on there but damage as well. Still a nice card.

That's a pretty good grade for a card with actual tape on it. The cards that I sent to PSA with tape still on it came back with Authentic/Altered grades, and those that had tape residue on it came back w/ Poor (1).

PAT- Totally agree that tape stains should get graded as a qualifier as long as there is no paper loss. How is it that hand written ink or pencil marks get an (mk) as a qualifer but not tape stains? Makes no sense to me....

Tape

I've gotten PSA 2 with tape a couple times. Also got PSA 2 with a tiny bit of glue residue on the back. Another time I skillfully removed tape from the back of a T206, sent it for grading and still got a 2. PSA will grade a near mint card as a 2 if there's even a little tape stain on the back. They are very picky about that.

I have about 10-12 high grade m116 1911 sporting lifes. Most are psa 8mk's....they all are extremely sharp, but in the lower right corner of the border, someone has written in ink the particular position of that player. How in the world does that qualify, and not tape stains with no paper loss? They both are marks.....
