We all do it when there is something interesting going on like the HOF vote or the nonsense like this moment thing. The only time you see me talk about post war cards is when it's about my childhood collecting or when I first serious about old baseball cards and the 55 Topps set was the first non-childhood set I completed. Such a great set too becuase there is no Mantle <img src="/images/happy.gif" height=14 width=14><br /><br />Jay<br><br>I've just reached Upper Lower Class. I am now officially a babe magnet for poor chicks.

Posted By: <b>George</b><p>The most memorable baseball moment of the 20th century came on September 30, 1907, when Ty Cobb hit a 2-run home run off Rube Waddell in the 9th inning at Philadelphia to tie the game, leading to Detroit winning the pennant.<br /><br />The #2 moment came in the 7th inning of the 7th game of the 1926 World Series, when the ancient Grover Cleveland Alexander came in from the bullpen in Yankee Stadium, took the ball from Rogers Hornsby, and struck out Tony Lazzeri with the bases loaded.<br /><br />#3 was Babe Ruth's "Called Shot" in the 1932 World Series in Wrigley Field.<br /><br />In no particular order were the following:<br /><br />Ted Williams' homer in his final at-bat in 1960.<br /><br />Hank Greenberg's homer to clinch the 1945 pennant, after his return from WWII.<br /><br />The final game of the 1909 World Series, when Honus Wagner tagged out Ty Cobb.<br /><br />Cy Young's Perfect Game, against Rube Waddell.<br /><br />Lou Gehrig's farewell speech.<br /><br />Kirk Gibson's home run.<br /><br />Ted Williams' home run in the 1941 All-Star game off Claude Passeau, scoring Joe DiMaggio ahead of him.<br /><br />I'm sorry.........baseball was invented prior to 1980.

Was there ever a bigger upset? Buster Douglas, Joe Namath, 1960 Pirates? Maybe, but the Miracle Mets are #1 with me. Remember exactly where I was, 10th grade in The Bronx H.S. of Science. It was such a big deal in NYC that the school actually let us bring and listen to transister radios in class! Reggie's 3 dingers come in second for me. I've been with him several times and always liked the experience. He is definiteluy quirky, but was always nice to me. Perhaps it was all my drool! TJS

Posted By: <b>Gilbert Maines</b><p>Id say that Manager Birdie Tebbetts was about as disappointed as he gets in 1963 when he left his pitcher in after giving up three consecutive home runs to the no.8 batter, the pitcher and then the leadoff hitter.<br /><br />Paul Foytack, then facing a rookie shortstop who never hit a HR in the bigs before, allowed his fourth consecutive home run. A record (perhaps for poor manager choices as well).<br /><br />These four "sluggers" were: Woodie Held, Pedro Ramos, Tito Francona and Larry Brown.
