T206's, T205's, Old Judges, E90s...when will it end??

Posted By: Dave
At any time you can find numerous numbers of these cards for sale and trade. At one point though will that stop? There aren't anymore of these being made, demand will eventually outrun the supply. How far out are we before trying to get a T206 common is as difficult as a E107?

Posted By: davidcycleback
Long time. Old baseball cards are like Christmas fruit cakes: new one's aren't being made, but they're regularly circulated to new owners.

T206's, T205's, Old Judges, E90s...when will it end??

Posted By: MVSNYC
as my dear friend, Jay Wolt says..."we do not OWN these cards, we merely hold onto them for awhile"...point being, we have already reached (almost) the end of supply guys, there aren't huge finds daily...big finds rarely happen anymore...it is all about buying, selling & trading. i am not the type of collector to sell, but when you stop and analyze your transactions, you notice that over the course of a few months or few years, that you buy, sell, trade cards a lot...these cards (and memorabilia) change hands all the time...

remember this quote, "i've never seen a brinks truck in a funeral procession"...

T206's, T205's, Old Judges, E90s...when will it end??

Posted By: Gilbert Maines
The best I can figure is that it would take almost two weeks for t206 commons to be as difficult to obtain as e107s are right now. Specifically, no earlier than Nov. 13, 2006.

That is provided that the baseball card marketplace doubles in size every day. I figure that the current ratio between a t206 common and a e107 is 10,000:1. So, to get that ratio closer to 1:1 you would have to half it 13 times (or double the market place thirteen times). Hence no earlier than 11/13/06.

Posted By: barrysloate
I don't think T206 can ever be as rare as E107. There's no way for them to catch up.

T206's, T205's, Old Judges, E90s...when will it end??

Posted By: Dave
I wasn't exactly saying they would be as rare (not like thousands would be destroyed), just wondering about everyone these days into the T206's, all the set registries and such, it would seem more and more people that collect them won't be getting rid of as many as they take in, so at some point, even if its in 2035, they would have to get a little harder to come by. I would imagine that in 1945 e107's were a little bit easier to obtain.

T206's, T205's, Old Judges, E90s...when will it end??

Posted By: Dan Bretta
There will always be people entering and exiting the pursuit of t206 cards so there will always be a supply. Some will even let their collections go because they know they can usually be had relatively easily if they want to come back to T206. OTOH E107's coming to the market are about as rare as solar eclipses. This will never be the case with T206.
