Fraud Alert/ Poor Quality Copies of T227 Series of Champions on EBAY
Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
Although I don't collect this issue, I seen enough T227s on EBAY to know that the 4 Baseball examples currently listed on EBAY are most likely nothing more that poor color copies. Any thoughts from the board?

Fraud Alert/ Poor Quality Copies of T227 Series of Champions on EBAY
Posted By: jeff s
i owned two sets of these until recently and i'm just as sure that these aren't real -- they have the big white borders with anomalously sharp corners that give away 206 reprints.

clever seller, though -- starts the bidding high enough to make someone thing he knows what he's got, but low enough to make an inexperienced collector compare the number to bv and think he'll get a deal.

also, he says that the cards can be found larger and smaller -- to my knowledge, this is barely true. yes, some cards have edges that have been chopped off because of the packaging (the size of which did not quite accommodate the cards), but those are trimmed/damaged cards, not "cut short." And occasionally "cards" appear with the same front but with brown blank backs, which were cut from advertising sheets -- those were hand cut (to my knowledge), so of course some of them will appear "short."

Posted By: jeff s
i was thinking the edge of the scan was the edge of the "card". so it might be real & horribly trimmed ... but the damage on the top of the front of the cobb card doesn't quite look real to me.
