Displaying Signed Book

Hey all,

I may very well be acquiring my first signed book in the very near future, and I was curious as to the best way to display such a book.

In doing a little googling, I've found that there are some display cases for books, though some say that they aren't great for books as they will cause the book to deteriorate over time. I have also read that it's best to keep the books stacked flat, and in complete darkness. However, I would like to enjoy the signature / book and not have it tucked away forever. I've read some suggest making a copy of the signed page and displaying that instead to get the best of both words (protecting the book and displaying the signature). I'm not really sure where to go to make such a copy though. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know how museums would handle such books?

Thanks for any help - this is a new realm for me, as I've mostly just collected cards.

I would not recommend displaying the signature page without extreme precautions, or limited display n controlled environment. A book opened to a specific page over time will suffer damage, even major libraries turn the pages of books they have on display. You will get great pleasure taking off the shelf and looking at it, or even reading it from time to time. If you haven't already done so, I suggest you spend some time going through the book to see if the signer has made any annotation, or even corrections. You will be amazed at what you can find. I am curios about the title and signer if you want to share.
