Question about PSA holders

Posted By: Brian
I was wondering if someone could provide advice about those over-sized PSA holders for E90-1 cards. It would seem to me that the card must move around between the plastic sheeting. Not only that, but I find them somewhat unattractive, at least from a distance. I have not acquired a card holdered in that way, and have avoided doing so for these reasons. So I'd like some advice, at least on the extent to which they move around, because I have my eye on a couple and would rather not have to cross them over to GAI or SGC.
Thanks and happy new year.
Brian

Question about PSA holders

Posted By: Turner Engle
Hi Brian-

I just popped an E92 Dockman out of a PSA holder a couple days ago, and they did not even put the card in between the plastic sheeting. They just simply placed on top of the plastic sleeve and the card was sideways in the holder.

SGC for me is the best way to go.

Question about PSA holders

Posted By: Steve Dawson
PSA has announced they are introducing a new holder specifically sized for N and E cards. It should be available this month, so NO MORE CONDOMS

Steve

Question about PSA holders

Posted By: Brian
Steve--That is good news. But I am still trying to get a feel for whether the cards really move around in those holders. In other words, if I win a card in auction, and it's shipped to me in that holder, will it be in worse condition than before shipping? I am not talking about PSA 8 cards, but they are expensive nonetheless (and I don't want to have the cards damaged).
Thanks,
Brian

Question about PSA holders

Posted By: Noel
I am assuming that PSA will make everything right by all the collectors by offering free replacement of the incorrect size holders in favor of the new correct size and will certainly offer any reimbursement to those whose "6" cards are now in "4" condition.

Question about PSA holders

Posted By: quan
i've had various caramels in psa3-5s that rattled and moved around inside psa holders, only 1 time did i felt it damaged the card...since it was a 4 i felt it would still grade VGEX. I've also had 2 or 3 SGC cards in 50-60 holders jarred loose from the black insert and moved to various positions within the slab, again only 1 i thought was damaged (an sgc60) and I thought it might be downgraded if cracked. Thin issues like mello mints and cracker jacks could be a problem.

edited to say: by moving around i mean during shipping. the card don't just start sliding when i hold it up or something. if it's that loose i'd probably have it reholder or crack out.

Question about PSA holders

Posted By: Dylan
I have a Bender E91 in a psa holder and i hate it. The card slides around all over the place. All you have to do is move the holder around a little bit. A card saver would do much better job then the psa holder, its equivalent to sticking the card in a plastic sandwich bag!
