Love that - have one signed across the chest above Brewers. Mine's missing the signature decal across the base though.

I enjoyed your bobble head display. Great way to show them all together .

I love that Hank Aaron!

perezfan 03-29-2015 06:34 PM

Yeah, it's great...

Too bad they never made an Aaron back in the early '60s, to go along with Mays, Mantle and Maris. Frank Robinson, Ernie Banks and Stan Musial (from that era) would've been pretty cool, too. Oh well...

I thought it was a Type 3, but, in either case it is one of only 2 AFL teams in this "toes up" set. It sold for $900.

Teamgluck 06-01-2015 07:41 AM

Whose the other team?

Is there a database for this type of stuff?

Lou Criscione 06-01-2015 09:25 AM

We have a few in our upcoming auction. You can view the auction by visiting our web site at: www.insidetheparkcollectibles.com

Miami Dolphins.

I know of two great books devoted to vintage nodders. 9 o'clock and 6 o'clock in the picture. The little one is written by none other than Lou Criscione ^^^. Tim Hunter's book is great for information but the prices are way outdated.

I think even Lou would agree.....buy both books. :p

Whatever happened to Tim Hunter, anyway?

effe 06-03-2015 07:32 AM

Would anyone know whether they produced both a holding bat and wearing glove version of the baseball white base and minis? I know they did with the green bases.

If they didn't I'll stop looking for my Braves white base bat and mini glove bobbleheads.

Rob-

About 8 -10 years ago, Tim Hunter made the decision to leave the hobby. He told me he felt the timing was right to liquidate his personal collection and turn his business/clientele list over to John Brey.

It was a pretty seamless transition, and John has not missed a step. The biggest difference is that everything is done now on-line (as opposed to by phone). While trying not to sound like an obsolete old fart, I kind of miss the old paper flyers. I appreciate that Lou/ITPC still sends them out!

Based on my Giants....maybe "no" to the white bases but "yes" to the minis.

Effe- I agree that a Ball & Glove Mini version does exist. I'm pretty sure I've seen one. I checked, and my Braves Mini is holding the Bat... But most of my minis do have the Ball/Glove combo. Best of luck!

Too funny Mark. I was admiring Rob's collection and wondered if I would embark on a nodder collection or even collect period if I lived out west near a major fault line. Rob appears be safe in Salt Lake City.

Whoever is 1pickers on ebay just put up the ENTIRE white base set on individually. So if anyone is missing one you may have an opportunity.

It is a good bunch, for sure, but hardly the entire set....I own ten different SF Giants minis (with white bases) and am still missing a few.

murphusa 07-04-2015 07:09 PM

Is there a technical difference between a nodder, a bobble head or any other names for them

djrhanover 07-05-2015 05:10 AM

To my knowledge there's no difference at all, Jim. Antique dealers and collectors have always used the term 'nodders'. I believe the terms bobblehead, bobbing head, bobbin' head, etc. are more recent. All one and the same though.

"bobblehead" is an abomination I blame on the stadium giveaways and/or Alexander Global Promotions.

He made a few bucks. As often seems to be the case, the Giants doll brought the highest price...

Most likely its a generic bobblehead with stickers added. That seller makes a ton of fantasy pieces.

Sorry to hi-jack, but who is the bobble expert? Not vintage, but wondering if it's a rare variation. I have a Derek Jeter legends of the diamond Forever bobble... I can find the one in pinstripes in an identical pose, but not the one I have in his away gray. Any help would be appreciated.

UPDATE: I finally found a pic of it online, it looks like it sold quite some time ago on eBay, but I can't seem to find the original listing.
