Paper Restorer

I know we’ve discussed this before but I can’t seem to find the threads. Does anyone have recommendations for a paper restorer for a small project? I’m located in NYC, so someone local would be best to avoid having to ship the item.

Thanks!

Paper Restoration

Jon:

I have used Innis Archives in Portland Oregon for restoration and linen backing. For museum archival restoration, I have used Art of Restoration in Chicago. You can take photo and get quotes. Both businesses are personable and professional.

+1 I’ve used them for small and big projects. I wouldn’t worry too much about shipping...top notch.

A little pricey but they do great work.
Ask for Alan.

Art or Restoration in Chicago

Jon:

I also recommend Art of Restoration in Chicago because they provide a detailed letter describing work performed, scientific process and materials used. As we both know, provenance is pertinent for insurance purposes.

Ask for Tom or Matt. Both gentlemen are consummate professionals.

Thanks guys! On The Art of Restoration, I've reached out to them twice now (including a follow up yesterday), and they haven't returned any calls or emails.

Richard - I'll reach out to Alan as well.
