What Have You Forgotten About Vintage Cards

Sean, in bumping the PSA Broadleaf pop report thread, gives some of us an opportunity to re-read the “new” information contained within.;)

I've forgotten more about vintage cards than I ever learned in the first place.

Every time I read some old hobby publications (which is often) I remember how much I forgot.

tschock 09-16-2018 11:03 AM

Hmmm... This could be an interesting thread, but I can't find my glasses to read it!

drcy 09-16-2018 11:13 AM

I've forgotten so much, my knowledge is negative.

barrysloate 09-16-2018 11:24 AM

I used to be able to identify every player on every 1949 Bowman card, and every player on a T206, by the picture only. Can't do that any more.:(

I forget

That PSA used to list the players alphabetically by first name
instead of last name in their T206 pop reports.

Which of the George Brownes in the T206 set - Chicago or Washington - is considered harder to find (even if, as I recall - and am sure I forgot whether, it may not be true.)

I forgot that I use to pay .25 cents for a T206 common back in the late 60’s, early 70’s from my favorite Bklyn Coin Store.

Where I put them, >sigh<

sycks22 09-16-2018 07:45 PM

I remember when my Frank Thomas cards were worth something.

clydepepper 09-16-2018 08:18 PM

I forgot to get a 1952 Topps Mantle when it was 'reasonably priced'.

CurtisFlood 09-16-2018 08:48 PM

I misremember.

Steve D 09-16-2018 09:35 PM

If I knew what I forgot, I wouldn't have forgotten it!

This post is incorrect in so many ways.

1. A card you remember is not a card you forgot by definition. This is the forgot thread, not the remember thread.

2. The Frank Thomas you are referring to is “not” vintage, at least not on Net54.

3. Furthermore, I don’t recall the 1956 Topps Frank Thomas card, which is marginally vintage, every being worth something more than a fin.

This thread mandates that no reference to specifically what you have forgotten can be included in your post. Violators will be publicly humiliated.

If you forget to post, no problem, you will not be missed, but possibly forgotten.

The big hurt was vintage for me. I didn't see the first world series like some of you old timers :)

What was the question?

toledo_mudhen 09-17-2018 03:29 AM

It's like Deja Vu all over again

hcv123 09-17-2018 05:53 AM

Well

I know what I know
I know some of what I don't know
I don't know what I can't remember
But I do know there are things I can't remember

The smell

There's no place
Anywhere around this place
Just like this place
So this must be the place

Yoda 09-19-2018 12:23 PM

What was it I was supposed to forget?

ALR-bishop 09-19-2018 01:10 PM

I forget, what exactly is a vintage card ?

buymycards 09-19-2018 03:01 PM

Bicycle spokes

I forgot how my 1958 through 1961 cards sounded when I put them in my bicycle spokes when I was a kid. I may have to try it again.

I am trying to forget about the 1958 Mantles and Aarons that were ruined. :(
