1913 Baseball Series Notebooks

Is there an article anyplace on 1913 Baseball Series Notebooks? The 3rd Series Vintage Baseball cards book is rather scare on the info.
Thanks.

There probably is but other than they had E95 and E96 players on them what information would there be? I am not sure a mfg or advertiser was on the covers but they might have been. Here is a full cover that sold in Huggins and Scott Auctions several years ago..

I haven't seen any great articles. I have been looking for scans for a little E95 research and have come across some old threads on Net54 and other sites as well as older writings that wondered if the notebook cuts might be proofs (SGC used to slab them this way).

Do you have any specific questions about them?

The thread re Huggins and Scott says there are 4 different cover variations and 20 different players. The Guide I has only mentioned one cover and one observed single. I have seen a Tinker and it is graded by SGC as poor. I was just wondering if anyone had a list of the cover variations and if the singles are really worth going after? Thanks to both of you.

Thus far I have only found two of the cover variations.

2007 Huggins lot:

2008 Huggins lot:

Another large lot that has players not on the two covers above was sold on our BST:

Old Cardboard gives this as the checklist:

http://www.oldcardboard.com/o/notebo...eries-list.asp

but this is likely short a few, like Cobb.

To add to the confusion, these images were also used on a scorecard and perhaps elsewhere, so it will be difficult to fully piece things together. I am going to try to classify a few different types in the post that I am (very slowly) working on.

If you like 'em, then I say go after 'em! You may never know if you have complete a set, but it would be fun. I have been looking for a nice Cobb with little success.

Bryan this sounds like a fun research project - good stuff!

Bryan,

Thank you so much for the information. I appreciate it very much.

Get the whole set!!

This cover isn't mine and I don't know the seller but it's the first time I have seen a reference, on an actual notebook cover, that notebooks covers are a set to be collected. Very interesting...

This is one nice looking cover and the reference to the whole set is very interesting.
