Darkhorse: The Jimmy Claxton Story
Hello net54,
In regards to the book, "Darkhorse: The Jimmy Claxton Story", thank you all for the tremendous support over the last few months, an especially loud shout-out to moderators Dan and Leon, members Dave E, Mark M, and Mike K, as well as the WSSCA. The book has nearly sold out much quicker than anticipated. I have decided to cap production at 200 copies. SOLD OUT. There may be a couple copies floating around at the Northwest African American Museum, and Roslyn Library, but I have moved on to another subject. Once again thank you all for your contributions to, and support of this project. Claxton was a relatively unheralded, but phenomenal ballplayer. His story needed to be told. Respectfully, Ty Phelan |
Just ordered one.

I know I have an advanced copy of this fine book, but it occurred to me that I'd rather have the finished product for my bookshelf.
Only 6 left now. :) Thank you for writing this book, Ty. |

I was cleaning out my Claxton file box this past week when I found the first early "treatment" of the book (about 30 pages in length). Looking back it is hilariously unintelligible, and in some places wrong. So many edits and rewrites over the past few years. There are 6 or 7 advance copies floating around, mostly in the hands of those who contributed images or research to the project. I'm pretty sure you have one of the best, and last pre-publication examples out there, though if memory serves there was still plenty of work to be done :) |
Hope you've saved one for me!:)
