Info on double dash dot dash

1 Attachment(s)
Hi, I have a Hillerich & Bradsby double dash dot dash bat and I looking for info on it. It appears these bat labels were only made in 1916 and part of 1917. There isn’t much info on them online. The bat is 32”, very heavy, it has a thick handle, has some condition issues. There are no cracks but one area has a little lifting. It appears someone at one time use it to pound like a nail and caused some indentations on the barrel. Does anyone know if these are really that rare and perhaps a ballpark value. Thanks for any help in advance.

I know very little

Any markings on the barrel or knob? At 32" likely a little league bat of some sort. Assuming little league and no other identifying characteristics - likely in the $60-$100 range

double dash dot dash

It's a neat center brand. I think that people who collect the different H&B center brands would want to have one of these in their collections. It is true that a 32" bat is ordinarily a store model bat for kids, but it said to be very heavy. Would a kid swing a 38-40 oz. bat? Not sure. Because some dead ball era, pro players like Keeler and Huggins used similarly short bats, I'd consider it a pro model bat if it was in my collection. And I'd expect to pay about $150.

Thx for your thoughts.

It would be useful to know how many bat-collecting members have at least one example of this center brand. I have one, but I have no idea how common they are.

I have some regular dash-dot-dash, but I do not think I have a double one. I will have to look.

Very cool bat though!

I don't have one of that style. I've just got a JF Hillerich & Son and then my Harry Heilmann game used bat has the 125 above with dash/dot/dash below.

In case anyone is wondering, we are looking for the label in the middle.

Hello, this is my first time replying or posting. Not sure if i’m doing this properly. I have a similar bat that is 34-1/2” and 37.8oz. It has Evans in block letters and is hand turned. I’m not sure how to post pictures from my phone. Always looking to learn more, I also know very little.

Bat is probably a professional model bat...could have been used by a Joseph Evans (debuted in 1915) or William Evans (debuted in 1916) or another Evans who never played MLB. Hard to figure anything further at this point. Check to see where each player played and if you have any history on where the bat came from....maybe you a match for a city....doesn't really confirm however. Good luck.
