Got these '35 Wheaties cutouts encapsulated at the Strongsville show earlier today.
Glad I did, as they really look cool in person! ...almost worth the 9 hour wait, SGC  :D

Thanks Eddie, very happy with it. My lone win from the Brockelman Auction.

Love that Lajoie! I assume you were referring to the 1933 set (and not 1934, which some people attribute it to). Either way -- amazing card, with great clarity!!!

1933. I do have some 1934 and I kind of like the 1934s a bit better, but my dad chose 1933 so 1933 it is.

a subset within a subset....doesn't come up for sale very often....Gehringer appears in the Type 1 , Type 4 , and being a Tiger , this Type 5.......Greenberg appears in all 5 types ; he's the only one ; I know , I've looked...Hi , Tim

I know it's not baseball, but putting this set together is paramount in my collecting focus. I was able to double the number of cards I had with one mail day. I don't really have anyone to share with, so y'all are the victims.

The cards are from the T36 (1911 ATC Auto Drivers). My blog post.

... here's a side-by-side way to distinguish between the American Type 4 (on the right) versus the Canadian Type 5 : the ''creamy" Type 4 has a more pronounced darker overall tone while the Type 5 appears lighter-toned and almost 'washed out' in appearance ; also the top of the capital "D" visible on their uniforms is thinner on the Type 5 and the font size for the "Charles" is more delicate, especially the first two letters.....
...me and possibly as many as two other guys actually care about stuff like this...

I am a pretty happy camper at the moment...

A speck of paper loss on the back of the t206 and Betz, but otherwise 4 clean cards I am pretty stoked on.

orly57 04-23-2017 07:03 AM

Way to go Steven!!!! Heck of a haul.

Nice haul, I love that 1894 Baltimore Orioles card. What is that called?

Exhibitman 04-23-2017 01:21 PM

Love the slabbed Wheaties. My favorite Wheaties issue. I have a few slabbed myself.

Pete, was it you that said they were getting a Ruth for each of the kids? If so, how many kids do you have? And will you adopt me? Great card, as always! :)

Upgrade 1937 R314 Goudey Premiums "Wide Pens" Type 5

http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/204295...ATESES_NEW.JPG

...the raw Bates is much better ; I'll have it graded at the next Philly show ; I'll have to hand-carry and babysit the card to make sure the grader is aware of the correct year and type.....The reason for the grade "2" is a short border tear which I missed during my initial pre-submission examination eleven years ago ; Of the eight '37 Type 5's in that submission , only one came back with the correct flip....

Lol Pete! You're right, I was all set, but am consigning the PSA 4 I have, to leave me still with the 3. This will be for my top banana. Tough to keep them all as they're not too cheap!!

Steven, don't you already have a CJ Cobb? Save some for the rest of us! Just kidding, great pickup!

HRBAKER 04-29-2017 03:26 PM

I want to go camping at Pete's house.

At this point, its only upgrades, filling in holes, etc,... in T207. Lowdy completes T207 for me - second go 'round. Average grade just a hair shy of Ex/SGC 60/PSA 5.

While most of these are from April, I have not picked up anything in a long while ... it'll be a long while recovering, too.

Jobu 04-30-2017 11:16 AM

Those are great Mike - congrats!
