Your 2013 Baseball Card Resolution

Just started the e98 set from scratch in November, and I'm already down to 6. So, my #1 goal is completing that set.

All goals:
1) complete e98 set (down to 6 more needed)

2) start a new caramel set (maybe e93 or e95)?

3) keep working through the monster alphabetically (make it through the letter "B" by the end of the year...currently own the first 5)

4) obtain half of the 1952 Topps set in any condition (currently at about 50 total cards)

5) get to the 1/4 point with t205 set...currently own just 17 cards

6) get to 60 1955 Topps PSA 8 cards. Currently at 43 cards.

OTHER GOALS:
1) write a baseball card related article
2) finally start writing a book. Been wanting to do that for a few years
3) remember what it was like to be under 200 pounds??? :)

It'll be fun for us to revisit this in December! What are your goals? Perhaps we can even help each other out a little just by listing these goals. Who knows?!

Jimi

tbob 01-02-2013 08:53 PM

1) Get closer to completion of the E94 Master Set in 2013.
2) Complete the D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit Set.
3) Make it to Chicago for National and have a great time with fellow Net54ers.

wazoo 01-02-2013 08:55 PM

1. To reach 100+ t206 cards
2. To have at least 22 Hall of Famers
3. To obtain at least one more missing ink card
4. To acquire 3 more backs which I need for my back run.

Best of luck everyone!

sdkammeyer 01-02-2013 09:07 PM

260 T206's in PSA 4.

1/2 this year and 1/2 next year ..... to reach my goal of completion by Dec. 31, 2014.

I'm hoping to go this year again, Bob. I haven't been to one since the 2007 show in Cleveland. We will need to try and go to a game again! Since our teams suck so bad, I suppose we could watch a better team play in Chicago (not the Cubs, of course!)

atx840 01-02-2013 09:09 PM

Trim down the collection and focus on acquiring the specific cards on my want list.

kmac32 01-02-2013 09:15 PM

Continue my E121 Yankees and Giants world series set and make progress on my raw W572 strip card set.

stewbacca 01-02-2013 09:38 PM

1. Add to my low quality/low cost t206 set(have 28 in the last 2 months)

2. Work on my signed 1976 topps set. Have over 210 signed so far.

3. Possibly continue/possibly sell my 1969 topps set with about 180 of them signed.

4. Get more autographs in my "Topps 40 Years of Baseball" book. Sitting at 613 signatures in the book with 50 HOF.
That seems like more than enough to keep me busy this year.

conor912 01-02-2013 09:49 PM

Finish my '33 Goudey set minus the big 7 (29 to go)
Finish my '50 Bowman set (9 to go)
Sell off my 50's Topps sets and start a tobacco set

freakhappy 01-02-2013 09:54 PM

260, that's a pretty lofty goal.

Good luck!

Buy some of the cards that Chris is trimming from his collection.

2. T206 Hall of Fame count up to 40 (currently at 19)
3. T206 Southern Leaguer count up to 25 (currently at 10)

5. Start on the 1909 T212 Obak set

Exhibitman 01-03-2013 06:51 AM

Focus...

bcbgcbrcb 01-03-2013 07:42 AM

Sticking to good deals rather than paying "whatever it takes" to pick up an item I want. ("Whatever it takes" does not have quite the same meaning to me as others since my funds are somewhat limited)

g_vezina_c55 01-03-2013 07:57 AM

Continue to buy more T206 cards.
Continue to buy more lionel carter ' s t206 cards
Perhaps buy a T206 Magie or Demmitt ( st louis ) or O'hara (st louis)
If it is possible buy a couple more differents t206 back

e107collector 01-03-2013 08:12 AM

2013 Resolution

Here are the cards I am currenly looking for:

1. E107 Type 2 of Nap Lajoie and Ed Delahanty

2. E107 Type 1 of Jack Chesbro and Addie Joss

3. Boston Store Joe Jackson - SGC/PSA 2-3

4. Low Grade Babe Ruth Rookie card - ad back preferred.

Hopefully, I can knock 1 or 2 of these off my wantlist in 2013!!

Tony

iwantitiwinit 01-03-2013 08:37 AM

Buy as many T206's as is humanly possible without my wife finding out.

BengoughingForAwhile 01-03-2013 09:39 AM

Trim all my beater cards so they look like PSA 8s. Then sell them all and sail away on my new yacht.

Bestdj777 01-03-2013 09:41 AM

My 2013 card resolutions:

1. Add some great cards to my B18 blanket set. It is my first pre-war set, and I am currently at 7/90. Hope to get halfway through by the end of the year.

2. Pick up an F. Scott Fitzgerald T206.

3. Pick up the last 23 cards I need for my current Mantle Master Set project. I am currently at 153/176 and hope to check of the remaining cards this year (most affordable but difficult to find, so this will likely be a challenge). If I can get through this, and am still interested, I might go after a couple dozen other Mantle oddball cards.

My resolution is: Don't add anything new to my current "want list"

Your 2013 Baseball Card Resolution :

Build a website / imagevent for my collection. I have been procrastinating this for years and the odd thing is I actually look forward to it.

Happy New Year All -

Harford20 01-03-2013 01:19 PM

My 2013 Card Resolutions (or collecting goals)

1. For my Ted Williams Master set, obtain the last two 1947 Menko cards I need, as well as a R303A/V351 Williams Rookie card.
2. T206--Obtain 10 more HOF's (currently at 52) including at least 1 Cobb and 1 rare back version of Chance Yellow
3. T205--Complete my Mordecai Brown back run (minus the Drum)
4. Buy my first Old Judge card (preferably a HOF player)

Also would like to publish my data on the Red Sox team photo packs of the 40's and 50's (as the data currently out there is erroneous)

Dave

paul 01-03-2013 07:06 PM

Finding an Old Judge or Scrapps card of Deacon White.

Jason Carota 01-03-2013 07:13 PM

1. Launch one site containing all of my collections. Technically launched, but not 100% complete yet.

2. PACE myself with the T210 set.

3. Enjoy the cards I already have.

t206hound 01-03-2013 07:14 PM

A couple

  1. Add another 60 SGC 40 T206s to the collection to get to 75% while keeping my average cost per card under $20 (currently at $11.48, but need some big ones).
  2. Add another 20 EPDGs to my low grade all EPDG set.
  3. Add 4 E91-As to the collection

CharleyBrown 01-03-2013 07:48 PM

Hit 75% of the Jackie Robinson Master Set - Have to add 5 more cards to hit 33/44.

Put enough money away for a big Pre-war purchase in 2014.

markf31 01-04-2013 06:07 AM

So I'm coming at this from more of a traditional "resolution" angle for my collection as opposed to goals of what I want to obtain over the next 362 days.

1- Nail down my collecting goals

2- Become more organized. Everything from keeping better track my purchases, scanning my collection, to being more proactive in plotting out my targets in auctions when the previews become available.

Number 1 proved quite ellusive to me in 2012. I started then dropped a number of sets as other sets and topics caught my interest. Any goals I set in 2012 were constantly changing and morphing as the year went on. I'm slowly coming to the realization that I might not be a set collector but more a HOF type collector.

CW 01-04-2013 09:39 AM

1. Spend less than $1000 on cards this year (bought too much in '12).

2. Enjoy the cards I do have, rather than looking to add more that I don't really need.

3. Live vicariously through others' pickups posted here and on other forums.

Howe’s Hunter 01-04-2013 10:15 AM

Simple philosophy

Get what I can.

Be content in knowing I'll never get all I want.

Zach Wheat 01-04-2013 12:04 PM

T200

Finish my T200 set. I have the difficult cards; I just need to add Cleveland (AL) and the sort-of-difficult card for NY (AL).

Bocabirdman 01-05-2013 05:23 AM

1. Move up out of the 50's on the Monster Number List. (I started at #51 six months ago, added 136 cards and now sit at #55:confused:)
2. Balance collecting and staying married.
3. Enjoy the scraps of cardboard that I cherish and most folks don't understand.
3a. Accept the fact that they never will.:D

Jason 01-05-2013 06:06 AM

I'm looking to complete Series 2 of T210 and keep working towards the rest of the set. Also to be a little more focused on and patient with those goals.

joeadcock 01-05-2013 06:46 AM

Tony

What a goal. E107'S, BOSTON STORE JACKSON, RUTH ROOKIE. Good luck in your quest.

Bestd;777:quite a Mantle Collection you got. Would be nice to see a scan of it some times.

joeadcock 01-05-2013 06:49 AM

My Goal:
1)Ruth or Gehrig Goudey
2)Rid my self of part of my collection to make room
3)Feel incentive from what others have said:appreciate what I got
4)Old Judge Cabinet

jimivintage 03-05-2013 04:08 PM

How is everyone doing on this? Two months in now.....I'm only close on my '52 Topps goal. The rest....well, some of those projects are already gone. Lol oh well. :)

I'm hanging in there. Haven't bought anything that wasn't on my want list January 1.

I have started a list already titled projects to start in 2014.

So far I've let go of several extra items, picked up one on the list and waiting for the spring auctions. Not to shabby.

AMBST95 03-05-2013 06:10 PM

So it's March and I've about maxed out my card budget for the year. Time to list more shiny stuff on eBay to fund my vintage fix.

Acquire period cards of:

1. Oscar Charleston
2. Andy Cooper
3. Deacon White
4. Pete Hill (very unlikely)

I Only Smoke 4 the Cards 03-05-2013 08:35 PM

My resolution is to be more patient- willing to walk away from a deal. I am not going after rare cards so more will be available.

Leon 03-06-2013 08:11 AM

Babe Comes Home...

My resolution is to not have one. I will continue to acquire things I enjoy collecting with no real parameters. It's the way I like it. :). This one is circa 1927....8 x 10 theater lobby card...
