Obak Pricing

So far I have about 14 of the 1910 T212-2 variety. I have looked at hundreds. For those of you with experience in buying these in the PSA/SGC 4-5 range (or the ungraded equivalent ), what price point should I reasonably expect? What I have seen has been all over, and there isn't just a ton of sales history to study.

It all depends on what day of the week it is. When putting together my run, I was typically paying in the $50-60 range for graded 3's, but sometimes an auction would slip through the cracks and I'd get one for $30-40. I think 5's generally go in the $150 range, but again, it can be wonky. The most difficult backs can go for double what the common backs go for, but even that depends on who's bidding on any given day.

I was able to start off my back run by purchasing a lot of about 25 from a board member here a few years ago. They were all SGC graded in the 35-50 range and we agreed on $1 per "graded point". So, an SGC 50 was $50, an SGC 45 was $45, etc. you get the idea. However, I paid more for individual cards after buying that lot. Conor's estimates seem about right.

Keep in mind that there are popular players/stars that PCL collectors collect. For example, there's a PCL HOF, some players that made it to the majors, and some that can be found in the T206 set and those may carry a premium. Also with the T212-2's, there are around 5 back slogans that can be tough. I think there's enough people trying to complete a back run that will make those sell for crazy prices sometimes. I know I paid up for a couple to complete my run.

As Jason knows, I can attest to this :)
