Bud's latest inspiration....
Posted By: ty_cobb
I first saw a tribute day in 2001, Mets (1947 NY Cubans
and Jays (Chatham) and it was educational for me to
say the least, discussing some of the past greats like
like Josh Gibson and other stars of the days. Pittsburg
and KC had a alternate uniform Negro league tribute that day
as well. These types of tributes are long
overdue given the perverse Landis legacy barring
integration for decades after it should have happened.

In the newspaper article of that day, Bobby Valentine
recounts walking into a restaurant in Vero Beach as late as 1969.
The owner refuses to serve Willie Crawford and Von Joshua and
calls the police on Bobby
(who were probably very willing to help in throwing them out).
