1933 DeLong Project Completed!
2 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone,
After 2-1/2 years, I am so proud to announce the completion of my 1933 DeLong project! The incredible design, small set and stellar player selection made this an easy choice for me. Is currently ranked #6 on the SGC Registry with scans of each card (follow link). Also includes an incredibly rare signed card (one of five signed cards from the set known). I've also attached images from the October-December 1971 Sports Hobbyist which was the impetus for me pursuing the set! http://www.sgccardregistry.com/set.a...0&userset=6554 James |
Congrats and beautiful cards, if I ever branch out to another set I think you have me sold on these!

That's a neat set, congrats.

Congratulations!
James,
Congratulations on your quest! It is indeed a time to celebrate anytime that a vintage set is completed. I love the colors in those cards. The Blues, Reds, and Yellows really pop! Best Wishes! |
Thanks so much! My scanner is kind of stinky, so I tried to make them as accurate as possible. I'm not really working on anything else at the moment...so I'm awaiting my next project :) I would love to see any other DeLong autographed cards or possibly a wrapper?

One of my two favorite sets of all time (the other being the 48-49 Leaf series). Very cool. I have three in my collection (Gehrig, Cochrane, Gomez) and want more.
|
I've seen a Grove, too.
|
Very nice!!! Congrats..:D

Super Cool!
Nice Job! Man some of those borders looks snow white, Very impressive and clean set. Go for a wrapper too! Aloha, Dave. PS The Mickey Cochrane looks great.
|
Congratulations! I love the Delongs, but haven't (as yet) decided to put a set together.

Nice work James...I've always liked this set. Here's my lone example!!!
|
I appreciate it, this is the second 1930s set I've completed and it is always wonderful, but somewhat anti-climatic as well. The best part is sharing it before it goes back in the safe :) First card was Jimmie Foxx and last was Oscar Melillo who eluded me for some reason. The Lou Gehrig was around the tenth card for me and was picked up for less than $1000 on ebay.
|
I also think it's important to note that stars from ALL 16 teams are present in a set of 24 cards. When I completed the Tattoo Orbit set, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a Yankee or Senator to be found.
