Lelands' Jim Craig Collection

Just got an email about the "Jim Craig Collection" at Lelands. I don't know what's funnier: the hilarious $5.7 million price tag or the line "first come first serve!"

2nd come, you're out of luck buddy. :D

A part of me thinks, somebody will shell out for this. Perhaps a business will buy it up to put it on display somewhere for marketing purposes.

There are 19 total items...click on the link to see them all.

I could see this group clearing $3 million because the Olympic gold medal might be a million dollar item on its own.

The medal is priced at 1.5 million. One could buy the whole collection or just one of 19 different lots.

edited to add: I don't play in the same sandbox as the collectors this sale is aimed at, but it doesn't seem too outrageous to me when you consider the enormity of the story behind the artifacts. 1.5 million dollars for the most famous gold medal ever? 250,000 for the mask of the winning goalie in the most famous hockey game every played?

Crazy prices aside, that U.S. flag is an amazing piece of history.

I received an email last week that the folks at Leland's would like to buy you a cup of coffee in Chicago. Maybe you could discuss the Craig Collection over a Dunkaccino.

On further thought, is it any odder then a Babe Ruth jersey selling for $4.4 Million? Probably a safer bet to.

I would think the older collectors who would be interested are in a selling mode and not a buying one as they get older. He should have sold these items after the movie came out or wait until the next big anniversary. I know life doesn't always let you wait though.

I just ran over to buy the whole shebang but was told I was too late. "First come, first serve," they told me. Damn.

I'd ask whether you got a doughnut with your free cup of coffee, but I know better. No way were there any left.

I wonder if they do Paypal ?

Honestly, I can't believe he's actually selling the Gold medal. That's something I'd treasure if I won one.
