Likely discoloration from chemical/solvent.

That's what I thought also. The back looks washed out. It looked interesting though so I dropped 20 on it.

Looks like bleach was used to remove residue...

Used to be Mine

Someone messed with it or it simply had gotten a spill on it. I threw it in free with a group of cards in Chicago, as it was all washed out on the reverse and even smelled funny. The recipient -- and the seller in White Plains -- knew it was just a low grade card and not a print error, and priced it as such.

It originally came to me from eBay and the seller there didn't represent it as anything but what it was -- an extremely low grade T206 that once had been spilled on... either intentionally or by accident.

It still looks cool in my opinion!

I just didn't have the heart to throw it out, as it still is a real T206 and can be a placeholder in a collection, or a neat looking oddity.

saw it

held that one at the ECN and it was definitely chemically altered. Back had all kinds of residue as I recall...

Held it as well and I thought I found something cool. Looked at it a little longer and knew that it was chemically altered. Still a cool piece.

This card was part of scrapbook collection that was sold on EBay back in 2004-2006... I believe all of the cards were treated with chemicals of some kind, including a Magie, if my memory is correct... Be well Brian

Brian I think you are right, I recall reading the lot had a few Magies.

Yeah, I did an experiment once on a stained low grade t206. I used some strong bleach and it turned out much the same. Not a success.

It didn't have as much to do with the removal as it was the adhesive originally used to mount them. John Billingsley either bought them or bought them second and sold most of them on ebay and at one of the National's
