What are you sitting on for a rainy day?

I'm sure we've all got some kind of golden egg we're holding onto that we bought low and plan to sell at heights we can't even guess at yet. Plus, it's always nice to see some esoteric eye candy.

Here's what I'm holding onto for a rainy day. This ball was hit for a single by none other than Mike Trout for career hit number 410. Who knows what the value will be 30 years from now, but I plan to buy myself something nice when its time:

An early Cassius Clay publicity photo, this photo and accompanying letter are from shortly before the first Liston fight. The image was shot in December 1960 and the Clay team printed them up in this format for distribution to fans. The first run of about 100 was made in 1960, with additional printings thereafter. The signature is facsimile and was added some time after the initial print run. Obviously, no more were printed after he changed to Muhammad Ali.

Missed my window, but I have a signed Seibu Lions Daisuke Matsuzaka ball I shouldve gotten rid of when he signed with the Sox.

As such, I've totally lost out on making back the buck I spent in the Salvation Army bric-a-brac bin to get it.
