1952 Topps Mantle PSA 4 -5

You always here how the 50 is the new 40 in terms of age..

Its starting to look like market value was..the PSA 4 1952 Topps Mantle is the new PSA 5 1952 Topps Mantle this year...at least the PSA 4.5..

GregC 12-11-2014 06:36 AM

I think some of these 4.5's that are surfacing are incredible. Matty's and this PWCC one look like 7's with that centering.

Centered 52T Mantle's aren't too common. Seeing huge premiums for such incredible examples.

Peter_Spaeth 12-11-2014 06:48 AM

Matt's. while a phenomenal example, seems fairly graded. At least from the scan, the grade on PWCC's seems harsh. I suspect it still has a fair way to go before a final price.

I've held it in hand and have to strongly disagree. I have a ton of 4.5's in my collection and it's a head scratcher.

PWCC one is certainly hitting $30k and it would be a bargain at that price. I for one was optimistic it might stay a bit lower with the good old Xmas bonus coming but no such luck LOL. Both are absolutely amazing examples of #311.

Peter_Spaeth 12-11-2014 07:55 AM

When was the last PWCC card that went for less than expected? :)

first domno to fall

SGC 6 not centered well sold for 23,000 to 1***p who is a big buyer..

Still a PSA 4.5 a PSA 4.5 and a PSA 5 1952 Mantle out there for sale....could probably buy all three for 100k...

The sale of the SGC 6 mantle today was not legit. The seller has 0 feedback and someone mentioned the seller said he got the card from his grandmother so it's a fake sale.
In this market an SGC 6 1952 topps mantle would be worth at least $50,000 as PSA 6's have sold recently for over $60,000 in private sales.

Republicaninmass 12-11-2014 09:43 AM

IS this Manlte SGC 60 the one from the seller of 0 feedback? He sold this card last week for 4500.

The sky is falling! Sell me your Mantles while you still can!

It's the mantle SGC 80 from the seller with 0 feedback that is a fake sale.
1952 topps mantle SGC 80's are worth a minimum of $50,000 now. There have been private sales recently for PSA 6's for over $60,000.

1952boyntoncollector 12-11-2014 09:52 AM

how fake sales go

Seller: Thank you for your purchase of the 1952 Mantle SGC 6...please pay by check for the $20,000

Buyer: Thanks I got a good deal, before I pay I would like for SGC to authenticate the card

Seller: No can do, my grandmother would be against that.

Buyer: I only 'bought' the card to prevent you from taking advantage of others.

Seller: The card is real

Buyer: Ok, Ill send you a check from Nigeria, I can only write the check for $30,000, so send me the $10,000 overpay and we will be even

Seller: Ok, sounds good.....oh wait a minute!

Haha very nice!
52 topps mantle's have skyrocketed. There were two 52 topps mantle PSA 7 private sales recently for over $100,000. There was another private sale recently of a nice 52 topps mantle SGC 80 for over $60,000.

1952boyntoncollector 12-11-2014 09:59 AM

The 52 topps mantle PSA 7 recent private sales for over $100,000 each are not recorded in VCP.

That's a funny post!

And yes, so many cards are sold privately that the VCP data is only part of the equation. Sometimes a very small part, considering private sales. I can confirm a collector with a beautiful collection just sold a 7 for 100k, shortly after upgrading. Can also confirm a centered SGC 6 sale at 50k+.

I have seen Matt's Mantle in hand and do not believe it would look out of place in a 5. I believe the surface of the PWCC one is the problem while it has sharper corners, the one with better aesthetics is Matt's, it lacks the scuffing in the blue.

1952boyntoncollector 12-11-2014 12:20 PM

sgc 6 mantle that sold today update

I contacted the seller and asked if the sale falls through I interested in a cash deal..-----

---guess the card is still available..this listing looks more and more legit

The buyer wants to make payments and that's something I can't do. If you're
interested?

if deal falls through let me know I can pay cash

2 for 2

so far on suspicious mantle listings...when I contacted the seller after the 'sale' if the card falls through after its sold....thus far 2 out of 2 times its still available....amazing!..

I agree the surface and color on Matt's 4.5 is as good as it gets.

1952boyntoncollector 12-11-2014 12:56 PM

4.5 crazy

.5 grades are pretty uncommon versus the whole grade..yet there are four 4.5 1952 topps mantles on ebay right now and zero 4s...

1952boyntoncollector 12-11-2014 08:44 PM

4500?
