Who is the only major leaguer to pitch in at least 10 seasons and have a winning record in all of them ?

Andy Pettitte is answer with 13 seasons (1995-2007).

So, before Andy....who held this record for many decades ? ?

By the way Pettite had two seasons where he was .500, so I am not sure you are asking this correctly?

Andy Pettitte pitched 13 consecutive seasons (1995-2007) with a W-L % better than .500

Ted your wording implied you were looking for someone who had a winning record in every season he pitched. Petitte did not. He was 14-14 in 2008 and 11-11 in 2013. If you're looking for someone with the most consecutive winning seasons, that is a slightly different question. But the answer to that one is probably GC Alexander.

Babe Ruth technically pitched in 10 different seasons and had a winning record in each one, although in several cases it was 1-0.

Impressive Peter. I looked at Alexanders stats, and he's going to be hard to top. Well done.

If I knew what the question was, I could try to answer it better.:D

BABE RUTH is the correct answer.

What was the question?

Peter_Spaeth 02-12-2019 06:50 PM

Pettitte all told pitched 18 seasons without a LOSING one. That must be a record. Of course it's unlikely he would have achieved that anyplace else but the Yankees.

Peter guessed correctly.

Unless one of you can find some other Pitcher who would out do Ruth's record.

P.S.
Sorry, I threw in Andy Pettitte….I now see that it was distraction.

I am glad you mentioned Pettitte though as I had not realized he never had a losing season. So I think it's safe to say Ruth has the record for most seasons with all winning records, and Pettitte has the record for most seasons without a losing record. And I think GC Alexander must have the record for most consecutive winning seasons. Good thread.

Looked up GC Alexander.
19 consecutive winning seasons.
Followed by 1 losing season.

He is also the only Hall of Famer who was both named after an ex-President and ended up on the Muppets. I’m pretty sure this is correct, as neither a Bert or an Ernie has made it to the White House yet.;);)
