Shoeless Joe Jackson mini decal bat....

Hi, I'm going to be looking at a Shoeless Joe Jackson mini decal bat today which is missing the black tape. The person interested in selling this piece says the decal is about a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. I've never purchased an item like this before and was wondering what would be a fair price to offer?
I should be able to post a picture later on today. Also, were these bats ever reproduced?

Thanks,

Paul

The black tape is missing near the handle.

Thanks,

Paul

$1,000 - $1,200 would be the going price for one in this condition, and missing the black tape. If you can get this one for less, you've struck a pretty good deal.

It's a very nice example... most have far less "crispness" and clarity to the decal (and much less of the remaining decal present). I would rate this decal closer to a "7.5" than a "5".

Best of luck, and let us know how you fare...

Jackson Decal bat...

Thanks a bunch for the estimate and information on the decal bat. I purchased the bat today for $720.00. I've never owned anything pertaining to Joe Jackson so I'm quite happy about this acquisition.

Take care,

Paul

Paul, in my opinion you made a great buy.

I've kept my eyes open for a Lajoie decal mini bat, but I've been waiting for one that retains a nice image of him. I've seen examples on which the decals were poor to fair, yet the bidding was competitive and the prices realized fairly high.

Judging by the photos, yours displays nicely, and my guess is if it ever hits the auction block, you'll be very pleased.

(Keep in mind that all of the above comes from someone who isn't an expert on these but does follow them when they come up for sale.)
