Can anyone identify these cards/wooden nickles??
Posted By: Fred Y
I'm sure these cards are from the modern era, but maybe not! I have never seen these before, and they appear to be made out of a thin, balsa wood type material.

<a href="http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=1000429726&start=0</a" target="_new" rel="nofollow">http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?threadID=1000429726&start=0</a>

Judging by the Koufax card in the box, they obviously were issued after 1966.

Can anyone identify these cards/wooden nickles??
Posted By: Brad Green

I have the Lefty Grove wooden nickel. The guy I bought it from several years ago said it was from 1980 -- or at least in that time-frame. That's about all I can say about them...
Can anyone identify these cards/wooden nickles??
Posted By: davidcycleback
Those definitely count as odd balls. I've never seen them before and have never seen baseball cards
made out of balsa wood. I would think an odd ball collector might be interested.
