Titus flood to market?

There are currently 39 Titus' on ebay. I don't recall that many ever being listed on ebay at the same time by a long shot. Did he do something wrong that I should know about? Why so available all of a sudden?

RedsFan1941 11-07-2017 09:15 PM

someone declared it to not be his rookie card? or declared it to be his rookie card?

You didn't see the news? He just got accused of sexual harassment.

darwinbulldog 11-07-2017 10:57 PM

I warned him not to wear that "mustache rides" t-shirt to the signing, but you know John. He just doesn't know when to tone it down.

I would have expected better from a guy who married his 17-year-old neighbor when he was 39. ;)

Depends how long you've been following. There was a guy who was buying almost every Titus T206 about 3-5 years ago. He kind of stopped. Then I recall there was someone who had a find of Titus cards (including T205s, etc) that were passed down in the family. Rather than selling them individually over time, they put them in a giant lot with an auctionhouse. The buyer of them thought that because all Titus cards were going through the roof, he'd be able to buy them from the auctionhouse and then flip them to the guy who had been hoarding them. I think he failed and has been stuck with most of them ever since.

Makes sense. Pretty tough flip, when your "through the roof" market consist of one.

I really doubt that scenerio. Buying cards in a lot to sell to one guy that you arent sure will buy them. Its like buying 100 1952 topps baritromes right now though i have been criticized when i said the pricing on those will fall

Actually, I remember it the same as John.

He may not have intended to sell them all to the hoarder, but he did try to flip them just as the Titus market collapsed.

It reminds me when Walt Disney was buying up all that swamp land in Florida to built Disney World. Once the land owners heard it was him snapping up all that worthless land, the price went up tenfold. Imagine what would have happened if Mr. Disney just said "Screw it - I think I'm gonna do something different"......lol..............Kinda the same thing.

conjecture and speculation with no evidence at all. Usually the simplest answer is the right one.

LOL, Bobby!
Also, IIRC, around that same timeframe someone was hoarding
T206 Pelty horizontals and prices were high on ebay. A few of us board members were online here swapping posts about it. One member (forget who) had one and put listed it there at a jacked-up BIN. ... BANG! Went in an instant. We all laughed.

Again which means zero.. people that name call tend to have no real argument.

If you would like to mention the name of this hoarder and the one person he was trying to sell it too and what transpired, that would mean something.

Heard it from a guy who heard it from a guy and we all remember it the same way is hardly gospel

bobbyw8469 11-09-2017 10:35 AM

No..Im just confused what your phrase that means zero means...How about YOU mean zero??

This is the history of zero that may help you what it means. You can always go on dictionary.com as well.

So we have cursing, now a personal attack. I am waiting for a 'your mama' joke.

Yeah that will be net54 gold!

The Stache

That stache is compelling. For the T206 experts, are there any others with a stache of that magnitude?

swarmee 11-09-2017 12:28 PM

There is plenty of evidence if you just use the search engine on this forum. Or do we have to do all the work for you?
I even sold a card to the hoarder.

In more hoarder news, someone just listed 191 1972 Topps Ron Cey rookie cards on comc.

Titus is the only subject in the T206 set with a mustache.

JackR 11-09-2017 01:48 PM

Thanks, Sean, I guess that’s what makes it such a classic...

The former Titus hoarder is an ebay seller and a board member but he hasn't
been on here since 2012.

Tao_Moko 11-11-2017 04:58 PM

Tony Bartiromes hoarding? You may have the market cornered on that one.
