Show-n-tell us of your favorite T206 "action" pose

I will start this show with my favorite, Mickey Doolan. I started this run less than a year ago. I figured it would be relatively easy since there are only 9
different T206 backs needed to complete it. I still need the BROAD LEAF 350 card. And, according to my A-B-C-D theory, a DRUM is possible; however,
no DRUM has been confirmed as of this date.
This T206 Doolan belongs to a very interesting group of 350-only Series of cards which were not printed with popular T206 backs in this series. Namely,
CAROLINA BRIGHTS, EPDG, OLD MILL, POLAR BEAR.
If any one is interested in the list of the other subjects in this Series which are No-Prints with these four T206 backs, I'll post them here in a day (or 2).

So guys, how about showing-off some of your "active" T206 cards, especially your favorite poses. It would be interesting to see which action poses are popular.

If you subscribe to the theory that this is a horizontal card (which I actually don't) I'm a sucker for fielding images:

I like the artwork, composition of the pose and the flaming background colors on this one...always thought it would be at the top of many collector's wantlists if it had pictured a big name Hall of Famer.

I like that Leifield Brian. The Ewing has always been one of my favorite action shots too.

I like the Joe Tinker bat-away/bat-on cards, Home Run Baker, and WaJo pitching to name a few. I'll try to make some new scans of some stuff. Here are a couple of Tinker...

Great thread, beautiful cards.

I've always loved Speaker's mid-swing pose.

I’ve always felt Barney Pelty was one of the most beautiful cards ever, not just among T206. Pelty’s fingers remind me of Catholic iconography, as in this Titian.

I have a modest group of T206s, up to about 30 now. But of those I do have this Mathewson is my favorite, and it happens to be an action pose.

I like the color, him eying a runner, and the fact that I spent part of every summer while growing up in his hometown of Factoryville, Pa. Oh, and the fact that this was my first tobacco card means something as well.

I've told this story before, so I hope that I'm not boring everyone.

My first cards were 1965 Topps ( I was eight), and my favorite card was Yastrzemski. I loved the way he was posed as if he was about to catch a fly ball. I noticed that the Mitchell card looked very much like Yaz, so it has become one of my favorite T206 poses:

This is my favorite t206 pose, period. I think Cy looks like a fat shlub and it’s the card that launched my love for t206

I forgot to display my "MEGA T206" Doolan :)

If you have a T3 with a similar action pose as a T206 that you favor, do post it here.

I like that pose but Donlin's hands seem way out of proportion.

Also, not sure that sitting on a bench is "action." Maybe in some circles :)

Donlin's fingers didn't just magically get interlocked. To achieve such a feat requires extreme finger dexterity.

Hi Scot

Very interesting observation regarding Donlin (seating) pose.

"Turkey Mike" Donlin is one of my favorite T206 subjects. And, this story is part of the reason why he is......

In 1905, John McGraw made Donlin the Captain of the New York Giants....and, Mike enjoyed his best season, batting a career-high .356, with 216 Hits. He led
the NL with 124 Runs. Mike's lifetime BA = .333 and if he had taken his BB career more seriously.... "he would have been a contender" ....for the Hall of Fame.

Hey Guys......you can catch "Turkey" Mike on the TCM Channel when they are featuring the old Silent Movies. Donlin appeared in 65 movies from 1914 - 1933.
Including, the classic "The General" and, the 1927 very popular BB movie...."Slide Kelly Slide".

I don't know which I like better the Donovan or the McQuillan. The Donovan has such a nice overall image. The McQuillan looks like he had such a wild delivery that I wish I could have watched him pitch.

Another one of my favorite action poses is this McGraw card. I guess by some stretch of the imagination you can call it an "action" pose , as it certainly is not a "portrait" :)

Exactly 13 - T206 backs were printed on each of the Exclusive 12 subjects in the 460-only series. Illustrated here is the complete run of the McGraw cards. Needless to say,
the red HINDU and UZIT are the most difficult cards to find. Plus, the OLD MILL McGraw is quite a tough card to find. The Exclusive 12 group were NOT printed with LENOX
or PIEDMONT 460 (Factory #42) backs.

Here's another one of the Exclusive 12 subjects.....Russ Ford, who had an unbelievable rookie year in 1910 with a 26 - 6 record (ERA = 1.65); and, he followed
that performance in 1911 with a 22-11 record. Check-out SABR for the story of Russ Ford, it's quite interesting..... https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/c15d8d78

I'm still searching for the EPDG and UZIT backs to complete this 13-card run.......
