T206 Magie on Ebay -- Without that annoying factory designation

Posted By: Anthony S.
So if you're looking for the T206 Magie error card and you don't like the space directly below the Piedmont insignia on the back cluttered up with talk of factory numbers and districts and states, you're in luck. And the sellers complete lack of feedback means that you, yes you, could be his very first dissatisfied customer.

Leon, it looks like something your friend over at EBay might want to take a gander at.

http://tinyurl.com/2ovjlo

Posted By: Anonymous
Reply to my question of how he knew they were authentic:

i took all these cards to a card dealer here in spokane and he looked at them and told me that they were and hes a reputable dealer but theres no market for thoise kinds of cards here and i will guarantee then with a money back guarantee but they are guaranteed authentic and i know the values now cause the dealer just sold me a beckett but i also know there only worth as much as the next guy will pay so they will be sold to the highest bidder

Believe me I wish there were no market for vintage cards in the Pacific Northwest as it would make my PCL buys easier.

Posted By: barrysloate
Isn't there a new rule instituted by ebay that doesn't allow certain key cards to be sold raw? Wouldn't the Magie qualify as one of those?

Posted By: Matt
Barry - there is such a rule, but the list of cards is seemingly random and nonsensical and the Magee isn't on it. Only 2 of the 4 1933 Goudey Ruths are as well.

Posted By: Dave Williams
What would happen if someone would set up a fake e bay account and bid this thing up to 10K or so, then not pay.

Is the seller liable for the E bay fees?

I've often dreamed of doing this.

Posted By: Jantz
Dave - If someone were to bid this card up high & win, but refuse to pay. All the seller has to do is file a Non-paying Bidder report and after (I think) 7 days the seller will be refunded all charges from Ebay except his initial auction entry fee. I sell some modern on Ebay & I have had to file about a dozen NPB reports in the last year. Its just a big hassle for the seller.

Jantz
Posted By: Anonymous
That is correct Jantz. The funny part is when a seller's own shill (himself) ends up winning.

Posted By: Jason L
I got winded reading that seller's response to the question in the post above!
(Yes, in case you are wondering, I read everything out loud, that is why I got winded).

I think scam sellers fail to use any punctuation simply because they are also stealing computer time at internet cafes and are always in a hurry and looking behind their backs to see if they are about to get kicked off the computer before they have time to properly type...
