c. 1911 Paul Thompson Photo ID Help
1 Attachment(s)
The image below is a Paul Thompson original Baseball photo. I have not been able to identify the player yet and was wondering if anyone on here knows who it is. The uniform looks like a St. Louis Browns jersey with the O placed slightly to the right on the button down middle of the jersey and the O partially visible and the black collar matches to the 1911 jerseys they had. Any ideas?

Looks like Jimmy Austin to me

Jimmy? Don't think so. I'll keep thinking because he does look very familiar.
Here's Jimmy: http://static.bbref.com/images/heads...mmy_Austin.jpg |
Wow, Jimmy Austin I am pretty sure, even the ears match. I did not realize he was so old as a rookie in 1909. All the wrinkles threw me off! We could start a whole thread about early ballplayers and skin damage from playing all their careers in the sun with no protection. I wonder how many died of skin cancer as a result!

But then Austin was a player/manager of the St. Louis Browns in 1913, 1918 and 1923 according to Baseball Reference.com

I looked at photos online and I am pretty ure it is him when you see other sideways views of him displaying his large nose and the ear similarities.

Thanks guys. I bought it as an unidentified Paul Thompson photo so its pretty cool that it turned out to be a legit star like Jimmy Austin and not a total nobody, not that it makes it a whole lot more valuable, but it is more significant in my opinion. Thanks again, that is what makes this forum great.
