Strongsville Show - Just So Advertising Poster

Did anyone see the Just So advertising poster that Legendary had in their case?
Wow!

Eric

Leon 04-18-2015 07:11 AM

I changed the title to be a bit more specific. I wasn't at the show but would love to see the poster. Any details?

kailes2872 04-18-2015 11:30 AM

Leon, I am heading there and will shoot a picture and post of someone doesn't by then

nolemmings 04-18-2015 11:43 AM

Eric, that's a helluva teaser. If you can't/didn't take a photo, please describe for us.

Is McAleer on there? I don't see him...

novakjr 04-18-2015 01:05 PM

yes. saw that. it's f*ing amazing. perhaps my new favorite piece of card related memorabilia ever...

Joe_G. 04-18-2015 01:06 PM

Very cool!, the checklist stood at 15 cards but I see 16 cards on the poster. Who is the new player (assuming the existing 15 are all on the poster . . . leaving a single new player).

kailes2872 04-18-2015 02:00 PM

When I get back home I will post up some closer up shots. For some reason I can only put up one image on my phone

Leon 04-18-2015 02:13 PM

That is a very cool poster even with it's condition issues.

rhettyeakley 04-18-2015 02:45 PM

The most likely additions to the checklist are Jimmy McAleer and Chippy McGarr as they were the only two main starters not to be in the set. It looks like (to me) that McAleer is on the poster (his face seems to be rubbed off or maybe just glare) he looks to be right above the "Clev.." on the bottom left.

barrysloate 04-18-2015 02:48 PM

It desperately needs conservation, and a good paper restorer can do wonders with something like that. It truly is an amazing advertising piece.

barrysloate 04-18-2015 02:50 PM

Is that Cy Young in the lower right corner? Otherwise, I don't see him.

Last one

So from top to Bottom:

Williams--Zimmer--Childs
Virtue--McKean--Clarkson--Boyd
Tebeau in middle
O'Connor--Davies--Burkett--Ewing
McAleer--Hastings--Cuppy--Young

Pretty dang cool. Are the photos the same size as the cards or smaller?

NewEnglandBaseBallist 04-18-2015 03:28 PM

Now that is really cool. Amazing.

Eric

Does this lead one to believe that Legendary is going to be having another auction coming soon??? Was there anything at their booth indicating such to those who were there???

NVM, it is on their website, June 4th auction

Jay Wolt 04-18-2015 04:19 PM

Kevin thanks for the scans. Incredible piece.
I checked Legendary's website and there's no items showing for their upcoming auction.

Jay, no items showing but the site says June 4th auction coming up

Jay Wolt 04-18-2015 04:32 PM

Greg, saw that but couldn't believe they didn't show something / anything that will be in the auction.
Sometimes a tease is good.

Luckily some members here saw the Just So poster & mentioned it.
Perhaps it was a walk in at the show this weekend since they are in Ohio
If so, that's quite the haul

RCMcKenzie 04-18-2015 04:37 PM

Thanks for the scans, Kevin.
So do you guys think this is the same photo with a tie added/superimposed on the Just So poster image?

Saw it at the show today and had chills looking at it.

Incredible piece!

Jay That's correct, from what I heard it walked into the show yesterday.

Here's the back. It came from Heritage a couple of years ago. At the time, I assumed it was a Just So proof and speculated about it on here, but we all agreed that it couldn't be proven unless a Just So McAleer surfaced, which seemed highly unlikely. Now this poster walks into a card show with the McAleer and the rest on it. Just amazing what stills turns up in the Hobby.

wonkaticket 04-19-2015 05:41 AM

Very cool!

A walk-in brought that in? That's absolutely incredible.

Kinda wishing I would've made the trip up 71 yesterday to see it.

Just So Poster

Any thoughts on what this item will bring if it was sold as is vs total restoration?

Is this a six figure item?

Thanks,
Tony

Rob- In my mind, there is no doubt that it is the same photo. Very nice.

RCMcKenzie 04-22-2015 07:59 PM

Jeremy, Thanks, after looking at the two images further, I noticed that the fold lines in the jerseys all match-up. Anyway, now we know there should be a Just So McAleer floating around somewhere in Ohio. - Rob

The condition issues just add to it IMO.
