New Harry Pulliam biography

My biography of Harry Pulliam is now complete, and available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle format. Mr. Pulliam's contributions to major league baseball were much more significant than most people realize. If you are interested, I have copies available at a lower price than Amazon, $12 with free shipping, via regular PayPal. No F&F please.

A worthy subject, and the 'First Pages' preview on Amazon pulls you right in. I'll order a copy soon.

I bought a Pulliam Tobacco label years ago like the one on your cover. Always have loved it and the bits of history about him. I do hope that I get a chance to read this book soon.

Congrats! Great job!

Cool subject. Better than yet another bio of Mickey Mantle or Willie Mays.

Congratulations, Mark!

This book is now on my summer reading list.

Cheers,

Richard.

How much are you charging for "signed" copies of the book? :p

Cool project.

Thanks, guys. I will of course sign for free when requested.

Mark, thanks for the great book on Pulliam. Its the story that I have always wished was written. I enjoyed it.

I finally got around to reading this book. It was excellent! Lots of good info in areas where I didn't know much. If I had a complaint, it's that there wasn't enough info on the 1903 World Series. Would have been nice to hear how it came together as I'm sure Pulliam had at least some input, given he was the NL President at the time. That's a minor complaint in an outstanding book.

Side note: I'm always amazed at how unruly baseball was at the turn of the century. So much mob behavior from players and fans, so many suspensions, and so on.

One question--

Hi Mark.

Congratulations on the book.
I look forward to reading it.
Just pp'd you; will follow up with email.

One question: Given his position, all his innovations and credentials,
Why isn't Pulliam in the Hall of Fame?

dougscats 05-14-2020 06:27 AM

Why isn’t this man in the Hall of Fame?

This was a terrific read, really gave me a sense of turn of the 20th century baseball. Much of it’s documentary but it reads like a novel.
I didn’t know what to expect, but it exceeded expectations. My compliments to Mark, his research and his prose.
If you’re a fan of baseball in its infancy, pick this one up.

Can’t wait to read this. Ever since I scored a couple of the cigar labels I’ve researched Harry. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...8ee689e5b4.jpg

Thanks, guys, for the kind words. The Hall of Fame? He had a rather short tenure as NL president, so that works against him. I believe his resume exceeds some of the non-players in the Hall, but unfortunately, a lot of that is political, and Harry Pulliam was not a self-promoter.
