Ken Griffey Autograph - Authentic?
2 Attachment(s)
I bought a huge collection from a friend that included a few autograph balls and photos. I had the Mantle items authenticated by JSA.
I found this autographed Ken Griffey photo and did a search on the JSA certification #. It came back VOID. I was going to toss it since the autograph didn't look good to me and definitely not as nice as a couple of my authenticated Griffey autographed items I have. I looked on eBay and did notice that this signature did look like some other authenticated autographed items by Griffey. What do you think? Does the autograph look legit? Any ideas why the JSA cert# is not valid? Thanks! |
100% legit. Void doesn’t mean “not authentic” to me. I’ve had many Griffey Jr. auto’s over the years and this one looks nice to me! Tony

Thanks!
I'm glad I didn't throw it out!

I have no opinion on the Griffey autograph, but a story about changing his signature....
Many years ago, when Ken Griffey Jr did a show (1989..1990??) on Staten Island with Stan Musial that I was set up at, I got several balls signed. His autograph was very up and down, choppy, no loops........a few months later I set up at the the old Bob Lee labor Day show in San Francisco and one of the dealers I knew had a few boxes of Griffey balls and they were all signed with a lot of loops and I asked him about it and he said " Yeah, Griffey changed his signature" I also think Barry Bonds was another player that changed his autograph several times I got him at shows in PA. |

At one time, I had a big collection of Griffey Jr. Autographs. Here are just a few. His signature did change slightly over time.
