REA wagner $550,000 buyers

a card miscut with writing on it
amazing
i think someone should use a hole puncher on it and say wagner did it to protest smoking and make it sell for $1 million
for a "rare" card it comes up in auction extremely frequently

400k plus for a Doyle typo just as crazy imo, but to each their own.

SetBuilder 05-13-2012 08:26 AM

I don't understand the excitement generated by that Doyle. Someone spent almost half a million dollars because some incompetent worker at American Tobacco put the wrong team on the card? That's really lame.

I'd rather have the Doyle than a psa 10 anything

I thought that Wagner was the nicest one of the three recently offered... But then I'm a corner guy, and the Goodwin Wagner had ugly corners.

I think paying 560k for the creased up one is super crazy.

how bout this one:

No I was referring to the three auctioned... Goodwin, Memory Lane, and REA...

The Drier example is amazing.

I also love how the guy waited until 3:35AM to bid $550,000 for this.

Impulse purchase? :p

Cheers,
Blair

I thought the REA Wagner would go for more. In the big scheme of Wagners, it is a really nice example!

The later you bid, the better the chance that your competition has gone to bed.

Or maybe he had hit the trifecta earlier in the day and was 17 1/2 beers into an 18 pack. :D

Hi Doug,

I agree...and I was doing the same thing. But I was also risking on my bids that the auction closed at any moment and I would be shut out...and my stakes were much, much lower than $550,000....

Cheers,
Blair
