Baseball Researchers....NEED HELP!!!
 

Posted By: <b>Josh</b><p>You guys and girls seem to be the best in the business at finding things out about turn of the century players, so I've got one for you:<br /><br />James Downey was a shortstop for the 1902 Toronto Maple Leafs minor league Championship team. Our upcoming auction is going to feature a variety of items from his personal estate, including cabinet cards, bats, contracts and letters with great baseball content. Also coming out of his estate was a game used jersey from Macon of the Southern League (which dates to the very early 1900's. <br />I have searched and searched and am unable to find any information about whether Downey played for Macon. <br />If anyone has any old Reach Guides or the sort that might be able to identify Downey as a player for this Macon team, would be a tremendous help to us.<br />If you've got a minute and can check a Macon roster, say from 1895-1915 to see if Downey appears at all, it would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />Thanks so much in advance for any information!<br />Josh
