I've seen Cobb, Cicotte, Young, Chance, etc, which will be expensive.<br /><br />Signed 1933-4 Goudeys and Play Balls can be found regularly, and are much more affordable. You might be able to get a Waite Hoyt or Burleigh Grimes signed Goudey for under $100.<br />

Posted By: <b>dennis</b><p>getting baseball cards autographed took off in the 1970's. before that it was common to get signatures on index cards and autograph books,scorecards and yearbooks. by the 70's there just weren't a lot of players who appeared on t cards alive. finding any pre war(ww1) cards with auto's is not easy.

Posted By: <b>James Feagin</b><p>Marquard is by far the easiest T206 to find, which is a relative term, since I've seen about 5-6 Marquard. I also know of a Cobb, Doyle, D. Jones, Livingston, Rucker, Snodgrass and Wheat. There is a T205 signed Cobb in the latest Mastro.<br /><br />James

I think Marquard is the most common because with the exception of flick and wheat dying in the early 70's, marquard outlived all the other hofer by decades. He was still alive when the National first started going! I remember trying to find a t207 of chester hoff to get signed in 1995 but that card was really hard to find in the pre internet days. I have a genuine mcginnity signed t206 and have had a bresnahan. Someone on here has a doyle. Someone sold one last month on ebay that was signed BY THE WRONG guy and it went for well over $100. I dont understand why there arent more though as people did get autographs frequently back than. I have 161 different signed 33 goudeys and 20 years shouldnt make much of a difference.

Posted By: <b>George Dreher</b><p>That is quite an assembly of T206 signatures!<br />I know that the Conlon sets are modern, but as soon as they hit the market in 1991, I managed to obtain the signature of the few players still living on their individual card. I believe everyone is now deceased that was on a Conlon card.

Posted By: <b>James Feagin</b><p>George,<br /><br />Not true! Two players from that set are still alive and signing. Linus "Lonnie" Frey and Billie Werber. Mr. Frey signed a Conlon for me last year and wrote a wonderful note from his home in Idaho. Conlon and Werber are also the last players alive from the 1934 Goudey set. Coincidentally, both comprised the 1940 Reds World Series team infield left-side. Mr. Frey is 98 and Werber (the first Duke All-American in basketball, Ruth's last alive teammate, and first ever player to bat on live TV)is set to turn 99 soon. Werber signed a 1938 Goudey card for me last year from his apartment in North Carolina and sent me a nice note. At last check there are 6 players alive from the 1940 Play Ball and 8 more alive from the 1941 Play Ball series.<br /><br />James

I thought Charlie Devens had been the last surviving teammate of Babe Ruth. Also, I just remembered that Bobby Doerr is still alive and he had a Conlon card.
