Should I consider getting this reholdered?

Hi all,

I’ve got a 1909-1911 Cadbury “Largest Steamers in the World” trade card. The card is graded by SGC and resides in the old slab with green label. I’ve noticed the slab is a bit scuffed and has some scratches, especially on the gold SGC sticker on the reverse side. I bought the card used and already encased, so there wasn’t much I could do about the wear. I’m considering sending it in to SGC for a reholder but I’m a little concerned that the black gasket holding the card may be biting into the edges as well, due to this I am also considering crossing it over to PSA. The card is in poor condition, so the grade itself is a non-factor with this piece and it is only protection and preservation I have in mind.

Any and all opinions welcomed!

Jake

Toploader and a penny sleeve would look better and protect it.

my vote would be to keep it in. Scratches on the gold in the back would not phase me!

Meh, if it really bothers you I would just polish the case first. There are a ton of instructionals on YouTube like this -

However, if you feel like the gasket is causing damage I would just take it out before waiting till the next presidential election for a tpg to return it graded as auth.

I would personally put it in a one touch as I love them - https://www.ultrapro.com/product_inf...oducts_id=4089

But Scott’s call of a sleeve and t206 toploader would be dandy too. Honestly, even in that condition I would think that is still a more than several hundred dollar investment and I like the looks of the one touches more than a slab and place valuable cards in them constantly for display.

If the gasket concern is that the card is oversized or odd due to the trim, I will hand cut a gasket for those and use a traditional one touch. Ultra pro has those gaskets as well - https://www.ultrapro.com/product_inf...oducts_id=1437

Reholder.....

In all honesty, if you want it reholdered just send it to SGC. It will cost you $30 and you will have it back quickly! 1st Titanic card I've ever seen. Best value in this crazy market right now! It would look amazing in their new tuxedo!

If you wait until they raise prices you'll be sunk!

Peace, Mike
