Kansas City/Overland Park Show

Posted By: Jason Silvey
It was reported in a previous thread that SGC will be at this show this weekend. It looks like PSA, Beckett & GAI will all be there as well. It seems like a pretty big show, but I don't know how much pre-war there will be. If there is anything in particular that someone would like me to keep an eye out for, just shoot me an email.

Jason

Kansas City/Overland Park Show

Posted By: Craig W
Having grown up in Johnson County, I regularly attended the OP show from the late 70's to early 90's. There always seemed to be at least 200 tables, and most were very busy. At that time, I was mostly interested in contemporary cards, so I'm not sure how much they had in vintage stuff. One of the kewl things about the show was that they'ld have autograph sessions with star players. I got stan musial's, mickey mantle's, and george brett's autographs there.

I moved to wichita 15 years ago and put collecting on hold for about fifteen years, so I don't really know what the OP show has evolved into. As I recently got back into collecting last fall (finished '72 topps set and now have complete topps sets from 72-92, but have switched to vintage cards now) I'd love to see what the show has to offer. Unfortunately, I've got some other commitments and won't be able to make the 3-hr drive to KC

I did talk to Levi Bleam at 707 Sportscards the other day and he will have a table. He's got a pretty good inventory vintage cards.

Best Regards,
Craig
Kansas City/Overland Park Show

Posted By: Bob
My daughter and I met Joe DiMaggio one year. Ted Williams was there the next year and the Stan Musial the next (along with others). I bought my first T206 card at a show there, a Tinker bat off in exmt from Bill Mastro.
It was a well run show and I used to take the little daughters to Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun and the Royals games. Haven't been back in 20 years....

Kansas City/Overland Park Show

Posted By: Jason Silvey
Rob,

I was there on Saturday. This is the biggest show I've been to so I don't have much to compare it to. There was a decent amount of the more common stuff (T206s and Goudeys). There wasn't too much other vintage. I picked up a few T206s but all in all it didn't seem like there many great deals there. I actually sold more than I bought and got pretty decent prices for what I had.

Jason
