It is scary to realize that there are so many idiots in the world.
But look at what is going on around you and you realize that there are so many
I D I O T S.

Peter_Spaeth 03-25-2016 02:06 PM

Probably the same people who were paying through the roof for Griffeys off Shop at Home.

mechanicalman 03-25-2016 02:16 PM

It blows my mind how fire resistant those vintage cards are.

Michael B 03-25-2016 02:16 PM

"Sometimes I feel like I am the only normal person and I am looking at the world through idiot glasses!"

pokerplyr80 03-25-2016 02:27 PM

Someone is making a nice return off these cards. It amaze me so many people fall for it and spend a couple hundred bucks on garbage.

The market's really small for Carolina Brights Wagners these days:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Rookiemonster 03-25-2016 02:56 PM

I would take a guess and say HARDCORE collectors!

Jobu 03-25-2016 03:04 PM

You mean these are fake? Man, I was planning to LIGHT UP the March pick up thread with my new T206 Wagners!

toledo_mudhen 03-25-2016 03:13 PM

I think the bigger question is - Where does anyone find all this crap to sell?

+1

Eric72 03-25-2016 04:49 PM

Things just got that much more expensive for collectors putting a Wagner back run together. :D

GasHouseGang 03-25-2016 05:29 PM

It's not the card price that is so bad, it's the shipping!:D

brianp-beme 03-25-2016 06:27 PM

The dirty, clumsy pyro within us

I think everyone here has learned their lesson and will no longer handle their cards so roughly. At one time I imagine these were fine looking reprints with nary a flaw before some clumsy, dirt-crazed pyro got a hold of them.

deadballfreaK 03-25-2016 06:47 PM

I think P. T. Barnum answered this question.

That's great!!!

iowadoc77 03-26-2016 07:20 AM

In the words

As Big Tom Callahan said, I can take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed. But for your own sake, for your daughters sake...

RichardSimon 03-26-2016 07:34 AM

A quote from one of this douchebags ads:
"Having problems with buyers not paying for their items."

Duh,,, I wonder why?

PowderedH2O 03-26-2016 08:07 AM

I'm gonna buy him out then hire an 80 year old man to sell them at a flea market with the "These were my dad's and they've been in the attic for years and I have no idea what they are worth so I will take $50 each for them" spiel. :D

iowadoc77 03-26-2016 08:13 AM

In light of this

Public service announcement-
Have a conversation with your grandparents before it is too late. Obviously there are hundreds of Wagners and Ruths sitting comfortably in their attics just begging to be brought into the marketplace. Please, please, before they end up in an estate sale!

Next thing you know there's money missing off the counter and your daughters knocked up I've seen it a hundred times

jiw98 03-26-2016 02:27 PM

But you don't just get a great card, you can also get a great cut auto!

Cozumeleno 03-26-2016 04:06 PM

Some of them are people looking for reprints to sell off as authentic cards, IMO. I acquired a bunch of newer licensed reprints a few years back as part of a big collection and sold them all lumped together just trying to get rid of them. I can't tell you how many inquiries I got from people asking if I had more that showed wear, etc.

Why someone would pay $30.00 for a reprint when you could create your own is beyond me. But I do think some of them are people fully realizing they are reprints and selling at flea markets or to others at higher prices trying to pass them off as real.

iowadoc77 03-26-2016 04:18 PM

unfortunate

This is unfortunate, but if people refuse to know what they are buying, then that is their issue.

Leon 03-27-2016 01:09 PM

+1, but it still sucks at the end of the day.

Exactly.

The people who buy that crap are delusional collectors and scammers (who flip them as originals).

The sad thing about it is that the idiots are looking for bigger idiots on the resale end.

Leon 11-22-2016 07:01 AM

Thankfully. Without idiots doing stupid stuff I wouldn't have a plaintiff's practice or anyone to make fun of for reasons other than looks.

Fortunately, no one has ever gone broke underestimating the intelligence of Americans.
