1909 German Baseball Stamps????

Posted By: honus3415
It appears that the "1909 German Baseball Stamps" Ty Cobb listed in this ebay auction 5188542718 was mislabeled by PSA and should have been labeled a 1923 German Baseball Transfer.

I looked at it.....and looked at it.....wondering how Ty Cobb could look like he's ready for the old folks home in 1909 at the tender young age of 23.

1909 German Baseball Stamps????

Posted By: Todd Schultz
pretty inexcusable mistake. It would seem apparent even to a novice that a stamp would read correctly, and a transfer would have the names backward/inverted so as to read properly upon application.

Edited to add: Even more inexcusable insofar as it appears that Cobb is not even part of the 1909 stamp set, the stamps and transfers are of different sizes, and the transfers are clearly marked Made in Germany while the stamps are not. One would hope that when a Cobb passes through the grading process the slightest amount of research and attention would be undertaken. Guess not.
